Adventures with Auntie + Uncle J | Part II

Not everyone can say that they have amazing friends such as ours.  Ashley and Jarrett have been taking our kiddos as their own since they were wee babes - and by taking them, I mean keeping them overnight, bathing, feeding (even bottle feeding), caring, and playing with to exhaustion - all to return them to me in one piece the next day.  Last weekend Auntie and Uncle J took to girls while Jordan and I had a 'date night'..consisting of 3 hours of budget talks (we need a new car that fits three car seats!) and take out in front of a DVR'd Grey's Anatomy.  I have zero pictures of that fun - but you better believe I coaxed Ashley into taking 101 photos of the 24 hours they spent with P&J.
Ready for the photo dump? Its a whole lotta cute.
Checking out baby Grayson's nursery.  They are going to be amazing big sisters.  I thought that being a mom was so much fun in the first place - but thinking about how they are going to be with this little baby girl on the way brings a whole new pride into this mama's heart.
Also- make note that the super organized Ashley already has this baby's nursery 95% complete!  I felt accomplished when I finalized the plans for our nursery.. she has bookshelves.
Books are lining the bookshelves.
hashtag what the heck.
Waiting for Uncle J to get home from the office.  First stop on the agenda is the park!

Onto the PARK!
The girls LOVE this park. They have been coming here since they could walk.
..and now they act like they own the place.

The Wide Slide is their favorite.
Slides in general are the most fun part about this toddler life.
Slides and sunglasses.
 My favorite smiles!

Uncle J's turn on the slide, and Parker thought he was hilarious.

I feel like I should blow this up into a canvas and hang it over my bed.  This sweet girl makes me laugh more than anyone I know.  She is constantly on fire for life.
Goals.

Dinner on the patio!
Chips + Salsa + Queso
Not to mention the required personal dipping bowls.
They've already one up'd me at this point.
Those glasses have yet to be removed from their face.
After dinner it was back home for a bath.
Ash doesn't need a single thing for bath time - she's basically covered all the bases from having Parker and Jolie with them so often.
 Brushing Uncle J's hair.  H A I R
The girls are so obsessed with his bald head.
I laughed SO hard when I read this post on the gram yesterday and couldn't stop thinking about how the girls are with Jarrett.
 Movie time
I got this silly selfie right before bed and I was oh-so appreciative.
Staying up past their bedtime to finish Despicable Me
Good morning!  The girls slept in extra late- even Uncle J was earlier to rise than they.
The Sleepover Tradition of a trip to the donut store + cartoons.
..only this time these two can pound back a dozen donut holes each.
I told Jarrett that pretty soon he would have a couple more babies to tote in their short walk to the donut store on Saturday morning.
The girls always have an amazing time with these two sweet friends of ours - talking about it for days after the fact.  I always appreciate how well planned these toddler dates are, and after seeing the fun they have via pictures - it makes me a tad jealous as to what I'm missing out on.
Ash is pregnant now with Baby Grayson (due just a week before me!) and it will finally be my turn to take that little boy off their hands for an evening!

25 Weeks

How far along? 25 weeks
Total weight gain: 13 pounds.  I feel like over the last week or so, I've doubled in size.  I may have reached the 'pound a week' stage.  I was slow to gain to start with, but I feel like I'll be quick to catch up.  My goal is about 25 pounds before this pregnancy is all said and done.  This is about right of women with a normal pre-pregnancy weight.
Maternity clothes? This week I opted to style this bump as I am about 75% of the time.  I say just 75% because I have to actually put on real clothing for work - but the moment I get home, I am in my sweats and tank top + sweatshirt.  This was the case on the day I took this picture.. I had already changed before I remembered the plan to take a bump photo.  I am most comfortable in that pictured above.  The pants I am wearing are from Gap- I bought them during my pregnancy with Parker and Jolie -and still they have to be my favorite.  They are light enough for the warmer months ahead, and super comfortable. They are stretchy, but hold their shape, but aren't clingy at all.  Pretty much perfect if you ask me.
Sleep: Better than ever.  If I were the pregnant me from three years back, I would kick present me in the shins.  I had such a hard time with insomnia in my last pregnancy and I am so thankful this isn't the case now.
Best moment this week: It is a toss between two events..Going to Canton with Bree & Teresa and spending the entire time thinking about baby girl's nursery.  They were so great in helping me search for the best items that would fit perfectly into her room- oh, and the corn dog(s).  I haven't stopping thinking about those corn dogs. The other is watching the reclaimed wood wall go up in the nursery over the weekend. I can't help myself when I walk down the hall - going out of my way to take a peek.
Miss Anything? Energy.  I am starting to slow down quite a bit these days.  Moving too quickly makes me dizzy, bending down is a struggle, getting up off the couch is a struggle.. and Lord help me, I am so thankful I don't have to take the stairs every day.
Cravings: Sandwiches.  I am still on the hunt for a sub sandwich for at least one meal (two would be ideal..) every single day.  Such a weird desire, but this was also the case when I was pregnant with the twins. I was allowed out of the house 1-2 times a week to make the trip to the doctor for a check-up, and 1-2 times a week Jordan would take me to lunch.  He eventually stopped asking because the answer would always be the same: Firehouse Subs.  Fish and Blow Pops could also technically be classified as a 'craving'.. but not together:)
Symptoms: Braxton Hicks come and go- not everyday.  I am getting used to the feeling of having her on one side of my belly, which would make it seem like I'm having a contraction - when really it is her little balled up self making my belly feel tight.  I had bab(ies) all over the place when there were two in there- so this is all new territory for me.
Looking forward to: Me and this 25 week bump leave today for Texas Academy FNCE (Food Nutrition Conference + Expo) - and I am SO excited!  An entire week of pure nutrition talk and I cannot wait.  Jordan is joining me later this week - so it will be a good couple of days to spend with him in between my work sessions.

Easter Shenanigans 2015

Its amazing how much can change in just one year's time.
This weekend in celebration of the Easter holiday means more than it ever did before.
We lost our sweet baby on Easter Sunday last year.
Parker and Jolie were just months over a year old.
..looking back at pictures from last year, it was a bittersweet time, but the thankful heart that overwhelmed me nearly to tears in the Sunday morning church service brought it all full circle.
I feel thankful in general for all things that have been given for me but the reminder our pastor gave over the weekend was almost a slap in the face.
I am often more thankful for the creations.. and not the Creator.
Without even knowing it, God prepared my heart to accept my own selfishness as I was reminded over and over of this simple concept throughout the entire weekend- not totally understanding what it all exactly meant - my heart continued to grow thankful and appreciative leading up to this very statement Matt shared on Sunday morning.
In one year God taught me so much about myself, the importance of my relationship with Him, and most of all - to be thankful for what He has created for me.
It's funny how teachings we all think we hear over and over, out of the same book that is thousands of years old, can still throw a wrench in our daily gears to make us sit up a little straighter and take note as to what God is teaching me here.
It was one of those sermons for me.
He always seems to work that way, huh?
He's got that perfect timing thing down, for sure.

Sunday S T Y L E
We woke to a rainy Sunday morning - a cold front had come through, but it wasn't going to stop me from going all bare legs for my Sunday attire.  I am pretty sure this was the first time in years that I actually thought through what I was going to wear to church to celebrate Easter.  It is always SO much fun to think about these kinds of special events - but dressing my kiddos has taken precedence over planning something for  myself.. so it was nice for something new to adorn the bump.
dress c/o white plum // necklace / francesca's // bunny ears / old navy
The church was packed and the girls were starving, so a family picture right after service wasn't going to happen.. so Jordan snapped a couple of just the girls after we got home (not before enjoying a sucker they snuck out of my bag).
 shoes / moda spana (similar)
My ideas for holding both babes seemed so much better in my head.. and this picture makes me laugh (out loud) because it is basically written all over my face the mistake that was holding them for a semi-decent picture.  Attempts to balance a nearly 60 pounds of Parker and Jolie just doesn't seem right at all.. especially when I have zero center of gravity in my 25th week of pregnancy.
..this was probably the better route to take in the first place..

The B A S K E T S
The plan was to make our way to the Massey's house for a late lunch (Tim and Teresa and her sweet parents were there, too!), but we ended up stopping on our way to grab the girls something to eat simply because they were not going to last without a nap for much longer.
I swear they are growing like weeds right now - we had to wake them after 3 1/2 hours so we could do fun things like Easter baskets and egg hunting!
Growing up, Easter baskets were rarely anything but candy for days.  One time I think I got a little stuffed animal - but the PEZ dispensers were all the rage in my house.  Now, as a mom, seeing Easter baskets filled with toys and toys and more toys for kiddos Parker and Jolie's age it was hard for me to refrain myself from going all Christmas morning on them.
But then.. I realized.  They are two.  Stickers, bubbles, and plastic bracelets rock their world right now.. so there you go.  I even went so far as to purchase a $3 tumbler with a straw from Target.
They were over the moon!
 The H U N T
Just before we woke the girls up from nap, Jordan and I went out to the front yard and 'hid' a handful of eggs for the girls to hunt.. since we totally failed at the egg hunt last weekend (you'll only make the mistake of showing up late to one of those things..once).  Thankfully the rain had stopped earlier that morning, and the ground had dried out just enough so that it wasn't a muddy mess to be out in the yard.
I thought for sure it was going to take a little more than a refresher from last year for them to grasp the concept.. but oh-no.
They were pros.

They split up nearly immediately on a mission to hunt some sparkly eggs.  Gah- Jolie looks like a teenager.  I can't believe how much has changed- I am obsessed with her perfect little independent personality.  This age and starting mini-traditions is really so much fun.
..not pictured here is their mother, basically rolling around on the ground attempting to get amazing action shots of this 'egg hunt'.

Jolie Grace didn't need my help at all whatsoever - but sweet Parker stayed close to daddy while she gathered her eggs to load her basket.
Somehow or another she convinced him to hold her basket for her.

The G O O D S
Their favorite 'toy' of the day were these eggs - opening them over and over made for some serious entertainment value.
The candy inside proved to be even more of a reward.

bunnies + baskets
Auntie had gotten them some nail polish and Minnie Mouse chapstick in their Easter gifts.. and those ended up in the eggs, too!  I had to figure out a way to not load my girls down with all the candy - because I knew they would be eating it all the moment they had the opportunity to open up those eggs.

SUCH a fun weekend.  Between Canton with a couple of my favorite people, hanging the reclaimed wood wall in the nursery (more on that later this week!), a birthday party, and the Celebration of Easter - my hear of full on this Monday morning.
Happy Easter!  He is risen.  He is risen, indeed.

Life Lately + Canton Finds

After a totally random week - Friday is here, and who else is ready for the weekend?
Days at work have been pure insanity - this time of year always ends up like this for me - and finally April is here and thank goodness its not a mean joke on me that my work calendar resembles less and less of an exploded soda in the freezer.
This week was spent with my sweet family, and friends, while Jordan studied for his Lieutenant's promotional exam coming up in between (we see the light at the end of the tunnel).
After my OB appointment on Tuesday, I came home to my busy girls - there has been lots of baby talk around these part lately.. and although WE understand that Parker and Jolie are actually saying her name, no one else around us would have any idea what they are saying.
Sorry, BB:)
They love looking at pictures and sharing sonograms with these two offers the sweetest 'ooh' (as seen below via the puckered mouth of Parker) and 'ahh' moments.
One of the sweetest family I know (via instagram) was brought to real life when they came over for burgers and butterscotch cake.  Kelly and I have been friends for a little while now via email, text, and social media- and with their family move from Tennessee to the metroplex coming up in just a couple short months, it was so fun to finally meet and hug her neck in person.
Those cheeks are as squishy in person as they appear on your screen:)
Wrangling four toddlers turned into a whole lot of grass eating + curious little girls
I always adore Aubrey and her work she does on this here little blog.
Did you notice the teeny update?  I now have a 'Pin It' button hovering over each image!
I have been asked for months why I don't have this.. and I have no idea why I never did - but now I do:)
First Monday's is this weekend - so yesterday BB, Teresa (BB's bestie and basically another set of grandparents to Parker & Jolie) and myself made the short drive to Canton to see what treasures we could find.
I was on a mission to find nursery items and with the Canton professionals I was with- we were bound to find some great things.  To be honest, every time I've ever gone, I've never had anything I was looking for anything in particular.
But.. oh.. I always have something to look forward to: the food.
It was hard not to spend all my monies on the amazing delicious and fried foods sprinkled throughout the ground of shopping pavilions.
Lunch might have been my favorite part of the entire trip.
Until this happened.. I found the most amazing chandelier for baby girl's room.  It is perfect and exactly what I was looking for.  A great price - and pretty enormous.  It is going to be perfect - I cannot wait to hang it.
I also found the sweetest painted piggie bank, a painted shelf.. and the perfect (everything is perfect, I suppose) rocking chair.  With 'French vintage' stuck in my head while planning her nursery - we were two clicks away from pulling the trigger on this chair.. ad I'm SO glad we didn't.
More on nursery inspiration next week!
Home from Canton- dirty and tired, I was thankful for a super relaxed evening.
The weather has been awesome this week, and we have been spending a ton of time outside.
Parker and Jolie's happy place, for sure.
Lazy evenings spend outside until its dark means random and later than normal makeshift dinners.
Edamame is always the best appetizer.
Easter is just a couple sleeps away.
Leading up to that day:
Sleepovers with Auntie + Uncle J (the twins) + date night for the hubby and me.
A birthday party, shopping, and grilling for dinner.
Easter Sunday church, bluebonnets, + egg hunting in BB & Papa's backyard
I am way excited for the next few days.

Happy Easter, sweet friends!

24 Weeks + baby update

banner / little dovie
How far along? 24 weeks
Total weight gain: 12 pounds- after my OB appointment yesterday, I have only gained 2 pounds over the last 4 weeks.. but I can assure that it isn't due to the lack of food intake!  I don't step on the scale that much outside these OB visits..and I should probably get better about that.  I have never been one to weigh myself regularly at all.
Maternity clothes? Most of the time. Ok, all of the time.. except I can get away with non-maternity dresses (like the dress I'm wearing above).
Speaking of the dress I'm wearing- amazing isn't it?  Non-maternity, but sizing up did the trick for covering this belly.

White Plum is so generously giving my readers a discount off your entire purchase through 4/10/2015!  Use code AMBER24WEEKS for 24% off!  Love it!

Back to more clothing talks..I can still wear most of my non-maternity lounge yoga pants and tee shirts around the house.. but nothing worth wearing in public - you are welcome.
Sleep: You ever wake up and forget where you are or how long you've been asleep.. yea.  I do that every night.  Sleeping so, so well - such a huge change from my pregnancy with the twins.  My only complaint about sleeping this well is the pain of a full bladder when I wake up every morning around 5am to pee.
Best moment this week: I went in for my regular OB check and getting to take a peek in on our sweet girl with a surprise sonogram:)  Don't you just love that?
Miss Anything? I can't say that I am actually missing anything in particular.. I know my twin babies are missing the comfort of laying in mama's lap.  Not so much these days.. They attempt to sit in my lap and the belly pushes them out- literally.
Cravings: Blow pops.. like always.  Sweet Kelly brought me a few and I about kissed her on the mouth.. I was out of my regular stash and nearly made a special trip to the store just for a bag of the beloved pops. I'm also still totally digging the idea of sandwiches (huge sub sandwiches, actually.. so, um, Kelly if you want to stuff one of those in your bag next time..that would just be dandy), oatmeal, greek yogurt (THIS one is my favvv), and fruit - of course.  I don't see any of the above changing from now until the end of this pregnancy.
Symptoms: After getting a humidifier for the bedroom to run during the night, I must say the congestion I've complained about has hid itself away.  Braxton Hicks have started - much earlier this go round in pregnancy (I think I started getting them around 26 or 28 weeks with the twins). No other complaints - except for this belly is large!
Looking forward to: The warmer weather these days has me looking forward to the fun my sweet family and my very pregnant self will have over the next few months.  I havent brought myself to slipping into last year's bathing suit.. but I'm sort of dying for some Vitamin D and color to my legs.  Everything is safe within the four fence posts of my backyard- right?  Also- Easter is this weekend and we have some fun Easter-y things planned for the girls.  Have I mentioned how much I love holidays?  If I thought I loved them before kids- the feels have immensely increased since having them!

b a b y g i r l
update
Monday marked 24 weeks along for growing this healthy + sweet baby girl.  With that 24 week milestone came a regular OB check up with Dr. Walsh.  I always get weirdly excited/nervous about these check-ups.. not for any particular reason but for the mere fact that this is all about her.  No one else.  We are talking baby for the next hour or so - and I love it.  It also helps that I could have a serious BFF relationship with my OB and her staff.  Visiting that office multiple times a week while pregnant with the twins made it easy for both Jordan and myself to fall in love with those people.
When I arrived, we went through all the normal routine items- urine sample, weight check, blood pressure.. and then my favorite part (aside being able to see her sweet little nose on the sonogram monitor) getting to hear her heartbeat.
143bpm.  Healthy baby girl.
Realizing that I'm 24 weeks- the nurse asked if I wanted to go ahead and do my glucose testing (usually done between 24-28 weeks).
Sure - why not?
I sucked down the orange sugar water (really.. it tastes like flat Sunkist to me), and patiently waited for Dr. Walsh to come in for a visit.  I love seeing that woman.  There is always joking, laughing, and life-talking with her.. just so enjoyable.  How often do you get to say you have that kind of relationship with your doctor?  It speaks volumes to her bedside manner and her ability to be an amazing doc.
Going through the normal chats about baby girl and whats been going on in the last 4 weeks, I mentioned my concern about the Braxton Hicks that have already started.  She reassured me that is ALL normal and totally fine. After heading into full blown preterm labor with the twins at 26 weeks, I was super nervous the first time I noticed my belly tightening.  That familiar feeling became a great reminder of the two babies I once had in my belly.
Last thing- Dr. Walsh always measures my belly (fundal height measurement) to determine fetal growth.  Up until this point, my belly has been right on track for gestational age.  At our 20 week appointment, baby girl was measuring 1 week ahead based on the sonogram measurements, so I expected it to be a little off (on the larger end) because of this.
After three attempts to measure my belly - all three times with raised eyebrows - Dr. Walsh helped me to a sitting position and laughed as she said- "you are measuring a tad on the larger side."
"Whats a tad?"
"Which measurement do you want?"
She laughed and said "..you are measuring 27 weeks, my dear.  Lets see what Dixie's (the sonographer) load looks like right now.."
I basically danced down the hall when I heard the news that I was getting a sneak peek at my girl.
All measured just the same - she is measuring about 25 weeks along, but the amniotic fluid around her is very generous - most likely causing the increase in my belly and the 3 week size discrepancy.  I had this same thing happen when I was pregnant with the girls.  It isn't necessarily a bad thing to have a lot of amniotic fluid - I would rather have a slightly larger belly over having low amniotic fluid - but after googling 'polyhydramnios' (why do I do that to my pregnant self..) I'm glad for the proactive OB that I have.
After reviewing the sonograms, Dr. Walsh wasn't concerned with the baby and all looked well - but she is having me back in the office to start my visits every 2 weeks just a little early.  I have another sonogram scheduled in 2 weeks, and then again two weeks after that:)
I cannot say that I'm complaining at all.
I have zero symptoms of polyhydramnios:
I feel her move all.day.long.
I have zero swelling (anywhere - my wedding rings remain loose and comfortable).
I could pee every 4 minutes.
Her heartbeat is always loud and clear.
I don't have diabetes (that I know of.. yet.)
Of course the most googling will ever get you is the extreme cases.
But, I was actually questioning this belly size just a bit.
..already with the belly self abilities.
After Jordan watched me waddle in from the backyard last week and casually mentioned that I still had a long way to go to be sporting a belly like that.. I figured there had to be something going on in there that made this belly protrude in this way what seemed like pretty early.
Although it was under random circumstances that I was able to see this baby girl - It totally made my entire week.  I imagine what she will look like all the time, and the thought of getting to hold her is overwhelming for this mama's heart.  The excitement of having a new baby in this house never gets old.
Having another little girl means more bows, more dresses, more baby dolls, and more girly things.
Her hair accessory game is strong.. and this is just the new stuff.
What is not pictured is the plethora of goodies I have stowed away from when P&J were tiny babes.
Seeing this baby girl in hand-me-downs of the twins' will well my eyes in tears.
This is going to be so much fun.
