breastfeeding in style

probably the number one question regarding fashion and my personal style has become "is that breastfeeding friendly?" or "do you have a favorite place to find stylish and breastfeeding friendly clothing?"
my initial answer to these questions has always been nope- I just wing it and make it work, ha! BUT as I've become more seasoned in my mamahood..and just keep popping them out, I've found it to be more important and easier to wear clothing that is breastfeeding friendly.  too many times I'm having to cut food at a restaurant, fix a ponytail, and even catch a flying hand to prevent one from hitting the other-  and too many times I've flashed whoever is within the vicinity- my apologies to all of those strangers that have witnessed my very own Janet + Justin moment. except WAY less sexy.
sunnies c/o (use code AMBER25 for 25% off!) // top c/o // white denim // booties (similar)
clothing for women that are nursing has changed tremendously over the last several years. hidden zippers (I loooove these dresses!), secret slits in the side of a blouse, easy pull down necklines, and basically anything with buttons are your BFF.

I've also been known to wear a t-shirt with my postpartum leggings - pulling up my shirt and being able to hide my stomach is always a plus when nursing, ya know?  but the weather is heating up.. like miserable hot and I'm sweating like a teenage boy playing football just carrying groceries into the house, so shorts and breathable shirts or casual dresses and sneakers are what I'm living in right now! this shirt from Tart Collections is AMAZING.  its not chiffon, but very lightweight and super soft.

one of the items I mentioned in my mama summer essentials post (HERE) are easy breezy dresses- my go-to for breastfeeding in the summer.. because its omg-SOHOTT.  I was lucky to have a pretty mild summer after Baker was born, but its been sweltering since like February here in Texas, so we may be making up for it this year.

its taken me a couple years to figure out how to dress my postpartum body.  something that is nursing friendly and flatters my new figure can be discouraging and stressful!  but know that we have all been there in those moments.
I'm so excited to be able to offer my followers a discount code for each of these nursing friendly looks!
use code AMBER at allette boutique for 15% off your entire purchase.
use code AMBER15 at tart collections for 15% your entire purchase.
and finally, use code MASSEYA at milk made market for 20% off your entire purchase!

thank you to tart collectionsmilk made market, and allette boutique for providing these outfits and allowing me to share your amazing brands and to Brittany for putting up with me and snapping these photos!
I've linked a few more fun and trendy nursing friendly options!

5 summer essentials | casual mama style

the weather is warming, the sun is hanging around a little longer in the evenings, and I can smell someone in my neighborhood grilling every night of the week.  its summer!! when it comes to my wardrobe these days I'm looking for easy care items that I can throw on and feel put together but also be super comfortable and able to move around when I'm out doing activities with my kids- from the grocery store to the aquarium to a (casual) date night these are my top five mama essentials for summer!  even better- the holiday weekend has left us with a bunch of sales, so nearly all my picks are discounted!  yas!

the easy tee
I've been living in boyfriend style pocket tees.  I love the casual nature of them and how lightweight and comfortable they are for summer!  I tuck the front for a little added shape and you can totally dress them up our down, just depending on the shoes and accessories.  I'm also loving the softened shirts that button down- my third summer in a row to be breastfeeding, so I'm all about the easy access with buttons down the front!

casual bottoms
two words: boyfriend denim. I LOVE distressed denim and the boyfriend style allows me to move and bend and be comfortable without feeling like I'm going to explode after eating Sonic cheesy tots (with jalapeƱos!).  don't get me wrong, there is a perfect time and place for an amazing pair of skinny jeans (I have THESE in every color because they are just perfect in every way!)
but the looser fit of the boyfriend jeans also offers the ability to wear them while its 100+ degrees in Texas.  I also invested in a cute pair of joggers to wear while running errands or grabbing coffee with a girlfriend (I did this yesterday!) pair with the boyfriend pocket tee and you are totally hitting all the high marks for that athleisure style thats so popular right now.
AND overalls. yes.  100% yes.  I prefer the fitted style over the baggy boyfriend fit- I own a great pair from Pinkblush that I'm loving and wearing about once a week (and they're on sale!). but I'm hard pressed to add a pair of short overalls to the mix.  do it.

breezy dresses
my favorite "look" while sporting the bump this time around was a t-shirt dress, sneakers, and a ball cap. talk about comfort and style all wrapped into one! as the heat is rising (its literally sweltering hot today..) I appreciate the t-shirt dress for several reason- keep me cool (number one!), the variety of style it offers (with sneakers + ball cap; sandals + side ponytail; wedges + chunky necklace..), and the fact that I can take the same dress and go from daytime to evening and not have to think about changing my clothes:). these are my favorite dresses for wearing casually with sandals or sneakers.

trendy sneaks
speaking of sneakers.. they are like my new favorite guilty pleasure.  no idea WHY,  but finding ways to be able to wear them with everything I currently own in my closet is my mission.  I think a lot of it has to do with how much I'm on me feet- I need something thats comfortable.  I am not a shoe person at all whatsoever.. which is probably a good thing.  I usually purchase one great neutral pair of sandals and wear the crap out of them all summer. same for heels and wedges.. now when it comes to boots and booties all bets are off because I just loveeee me some booties.
every color, please! but this is summer.. in Texas.. and I'll literally be filling my suede booties up with sweat if I attempted to wear them right now.. so I'll stick to sneakers:)

blush lip
blush everything is the hottest color of the season and I've found a handful of glosses and mattes that I'm loving right now.  the tarte lip paint is phenom.. I got it as a sample last month and I'm loving it so much that I went and got a couple the other day to stock up for summer.  my luck, they always discontinue my favorite makeup and I can ever find it again- I hate that!  I've learned from these tribulations and always buy more than one when shopping!
my top three makeup must haves right now..
NUMBER ONE is definitely lip gloss. number two would have to be my bronzer/highlighter combo (I am loving the tarte combo palette !), and number three is my eye brow pencil + filler (benefit gimme brow is the bomb).

purllamb | a hoodie company + giveaway

who is ready for some football?!  preseason is over and we officially have football on the television every sunday for the day's entirety. AND this will basically be my sunday attire.  comfy leggings, a flowy cardigan and my sunday checklist tee. I for one love love looooove the cool weather.  I would much rather it be cold so I can layer layer layerrrr. I basically wear a sweatshirt and pants through the entire Texas summer (indoors), so being able to be that comfortable outside of the house is optimal for me:)
as far as my babies go, I want them to find the same comfort!  I discovered purllamb right before Baker was born and it was everything I had not to buy out the adorableness of her shop! Baker wore her knotted gowns (on sale!) from newborn to 6 months and then it was onto sweats all through her first fall and winter season.  her little diaper bum in those skinny sweats were just to DIE for.  not to mention, baby ears on baby hoods.. well, I think thats just about the best idea ever.
side note- I cannot get enough of her little barefoot in this picture.
heart eyes!!  she loves to hold hands while she walks and the feeling of my heart shooting to my throat when she reaches up for my hand will never get old.
I MEAN,  LOOK at this tiny BAKER!!
those tiny toes again (omg.omg.omg.)
give me another one.  asap.
..because now she's big.  and sassy. and runs our house like she owns the place.
she's wearing these purllamb shorties with santa leggings.
SANTA LEGGINGS.
basically among my top 10 favorite pictures of Baker. ever.
where has the time gone?!
reel me back in.
REEL me back.
she still looks pretty freakin' cute and super comfy in these hoodies + sweats.  perfect for football sundays, if I do say so myself.
I wonder if I could get a hoodie in my size.
I need to get on that..
runaway animal baby!

I'm so excited for the opportunity to offer one lucky winner $50 shop credit towards anything they wish from purllamb!  I know I'm not the only mama out there that could use $50 to kick off a fresh start to a cool weather wardrobe for their babe(s)!  even better, purllamb offers free shipping with a $49 purchase! fall is here!!
well.  almost. humor me, Texas.  humor me.
good luck!

time-out from the crazy with pinkblush + giveaway

this last week the weather has been outrageous- a real break in the heat from the 100+ temps we have become accustomed to over the last several months.  we have wanted nothing more than to just soak it in while we can!  it is August, so summer is definitely not over yet!
we live just outside a funky little college town..home to some really unique spots with hole in the wall diners and some of the best ice cream you have ever eaten. live music plays on the grassy knoll in from the court house after the sun goes down, and in this same spot just an hour earlier, under the 150 year old trees,  you can find about 75 men and women doing yoga in the grass.
the BEST kind of weather to enjoy this kind of esthetic of our town.
we have a favorite little breakfast spot- its open 24 hours a day and serves the BEST omelets (for me!) and chocolate chip pancakes (for the kids). after going back and for a minute about having breakfast for dinner or cheese burgers, we went for the breakfast! even though.. cheeseburgers are delicious at this one little spot.  not to mention it was open mic night and the rooftop seating was phenom! but alas.. the nibbles of chocolate chip pancakes soaked in maple syrup I steal off of Jolie's plate were calling my name.

after dinner we made our little spot on the grass to listen to the live music.  these days I am always looking for something to wear that is comfortable and cute but still allows me to not look like a complete mess when I'm trying to wrangle my little people.  I was introduced to pinkblush when I was pregnant with Baker.  looking for something to cover this bump, their maternity style of clothing was right up my alley.  I actually didn't even realize they had a full (and amazing) line of women's clothing completely outside of maternity clothes until recently.  the cold shoulder dress I am wearing is actually versatile enough to transition from maternity to non-maternity.  but for this bump-less gal over here I appreciate the longer length that this dress has to offer!

I've teamed up with pinkblush to offer one lucky winner $50 gift card to this trendy online boutique  towards anything they wish!  I know you mamas out there could use some easily transitional staple pieces in your closet, and every little bit helps to kick off a fresh start to this season's fall wardrobe, right?  RIGHT!! in the meantime, pinkblush has a promotion going right now, just use code WHATUNEED for 25% sitewide!

so much crazy going on right now in our little bubble- taking a break from the day to day and getting out and about for a family date is the best part of life and the kind of things I look forward to.
other things include.. starbucks.  solo target trips... starbucks on said solo target trips.
dont let me fool you. life is good, folks.
as always, thank you to Brittany for her talent in catching my crazy crew in the best light, and to Pinkblush for sponsoring this post.

mama picks | video monitor upgrade

its been long overdue that we upgrade to a new monitor.  we bought one.. or maybe it was a shower gift, but we got one with two cameras for when the twins were born and just decided to use the same one for Baker when she arrived.  we didn't splurge on anything as far as baby gear goes for Baker, except a highchair.  everything else, right down to her infant car seat, has been hand-me-down from the twins.
it worked just fine- ran out battery a little faster than it probably should have, and the touch screen still worked even though it was shattered after I dropped it on the kitchen floor trying to carry it and a load of laundry from one room to the next.. but it worked.  the twins, at three and half, don't necessarily need the monitor on them while they sleep anymore, and their room is literally three steps outside of our master bedroom, so I am not too worried about keeping up with that, but Baker for sure has a couple more years and for our future baby number four (not pregnant) we have talked about definitely getting another monitor.
I was browsing through a friend's baby registry recently and noticed she had the Levana digital monitor on her list.. I hadn't heard of this brand before!  which was no surprise because so much has changed in just the few short years we have been buying baby items/products/stuff.  literally, a couple days later I got an email about trying Levana's newest model, the Alexa.
well.  DUH! but it was so random and like they knew I was browsing:) right out of the box I was PUMPED about the 5" screen.  I am used to a much smaller screen, so this was like the biggest plus to me.  this monitor also doesn't have a base, it plugs into a USB cord, so its easier to move around for charging.  most of the time it stays on my nightstand to charge, but I've moved it to the kitchen before and the playroom.  you can even charge from your laptop or any USB outlets you already have- no special cord or base, but it does come with a charging cable. even with that being said, the 12 hour battery life allows me to have some time in between when I don't need to have it charging.  when the battery is low it alerts you by beeping.. which I found out around 2am one night.  all this beeping, I was so confused as to what was happening! but it allowed me to plug in the monitor and keep the video on Baker without waking up to a blank screen the next morning!
other good things..
 temperature sensors
feeding/nap timers
real-time clock
..and the reviews are awesome!

this particular model is brand new, and slightly cheaper than other versions of their monitors.  the camera is stationary but has a wedge so it allows me to move it in different angles to be able to fully see Baker's entire crib.  the camera is placed really high up, but I can see even the little details of her face because of the high resolution of the LCD digital screen.  our other camera was placed right below the 'Baker' sign and I got the same view, but in lower resolution.

most importantly, I can add up to four cameras to this monitor. so, if I wanted another one for the big girls' room, I could, and especially for eventually when another baby comes we can see both Baker and the newbie.  when we add another camera I will have to update how utilizing this monitor is with two cameras vs one.
I'm so glad I got the opportunity to try this monitor!
with the market inundated with options, this is one I am confident about.

baby dates with carter's + giveaway

this post is sponsored by the great folks at Carter's; however, all opinions expressed are my own.

so much has changed for the Massey bunch over the last three years.
date night, for us, was never wild and crazy and always consisted of dinner or coffee and a movie!  we l o v e the movies and even though we don't make it to the theaters much at all, we still get our movies in courtesy of netflix.

with three kiddos in tow, a lot of what we do these days really depends on if we can go as a family.  after Baker was born last summer, we still had a couple of busy toddlers to manage and have fun with (and get out of the house!) all while getting to know our newest little addition.  spending time as a family quickly replaced our weekly date night, and we have just as much fun with our babes when we make a trip to the zoo, splash pad, the library, and our favorite place- the park!

my most favorite go-to when dressing my girls in their first year (and beyond) has been Carter's.  when the the the big girls were born, there wasn't a whole lot that fit them outside of Carter's brand. They wore their babysoft sets, sleep and plays, and the original bodysuit well through their first year of life, and Baker followed suit with the sweetest hand-me-downs fitting her like a glove.
during a baby's first year, its all about the baby essentials, fit for any occasion, and Carter's always has what I'm looking for.  I appreciate the one-stop-shop, and no one does the coordinating outfits better than Carter's:)

the warm weather is here, so when we are spending time outside, I really focus on dressing my girls for comfort.  of course I want them to look super cute, but lightweight and breathable is key.  the versatile little baby basics collection from Carter's is just that!  adorable bodysuit dresses, easy dress onesies, and comfy cotton pants are perfect for a baby date to the park.

it was Baker's first time in a swing, and sweet Jesus she is so dang cute!  look at that excited face?!

I'm so excited to the opportunity to team up with Carter's to offer one lucky winner $100 towards anything they wish!  I know I'm not the only mama out there that could use $100 to kick off a fresh start to a warm weather wardrobe for their babe(s)!  we are already spending days by the pool, at the park, and evenings on the patio!  summer is here!
besides. baby bathing suits!
