Crazy Daphnee

MVI_0520, originally uploaded by jordanmassey.

The other night after getting home from rotations, I did my normal routine of immeadiately changing into my comfies, hair in a pony and sweater slippers on. Then- I proceed to feed both dogs their dinner. Daphnee stays in the dog run in the back because being inside, alone, all day is not smart for that puppy! So- I let her out and she literally leaped out like a mad woman and proceeded to run laps aroun the yard. I thought..I need to be recording this or something.

So..the next day, that is just what I did!

Week In Review

This week was a big change from my internship-induced anti-socialism. The term is unavoidable when you are spending anywhere from 40-70 hours a week at the hospital (or whatever rotation I'm in that week..) and then finally getting home to more assignments, projects, and studying. Although it seems like I whine and cry about being so swamped- I'm really alright. I am loving every minute of this internship, learning so-so-so-so much from my awesome preceptors. I promise to make it a point to cut down on my whiney-ish-ness. :)

Big fun this week- and I was so excited I could hardly contain myself! Stephanie came in town from Chicago for a wedding this weekend. Wednesday night Jordan and I met her and several members of her family at Sushi Zushi in Dallas. I hadn't seen her since her Wedding in November..and this visit was a long time coming!

Wednesday Night

My (1 of 3) best friend

Mary Katherine- this girl always has a way to make me laugh. So thankful for her. Deeks appreciated her coming, too!

MKat and I did sushi family-style (as usual!) This on one of my favorite rolls- the Oaklawn Roll (names for the restaurant's address)It has crawfish, avocado and spicy tuna or spicy salmon rolled uramaki style, topped with colorful tobiko and honey wasabi sauce..we always get the salmon! So good! The salmon tower is another favorite of ours!

Jordan- never has ever stepped foot in a sushi restaurant. The boy wont even TOUCH canned tuna! He came for the love of Deeku, and I ordered him some cooked rolls..something with fried shrimp and veggies. Wasn't too bad- he ate the whole thing! MKat and I didn't finish our rolls, and so he grabbed one and popped it in his mouth not knowing what was in it, I guess (raw salmon!!) For the record- he ate two more after that. And he thought he didn't like sushi!

Love him!

The Patel's. MOVE BACK!

Friday Night

Friday Night I had the opportunity to get tickets to the Winter Jam 2010 Tour at the American Airlines Center. One of the girls in our Sunday School Class works for AAC event coordination and had a suite for anyone from our ABF class that wanted to go. Jordan left for Indiana for some part time work with his dad, so I had an extra ticket. I invited Anna to tag along with me. She is in the midst of preparing for her case study project presentation next week, so it was a nice break for her. I'm so glad she came along!

The NewsBoys- they were GREAT. Third Day was really good, too. My camera died after I took this picture, so, I didn't get anymore of the evening :(

Saturday

I occasionally babysit for Krisit (my internship director) so that her and her hubbs can go run errands and spend some alone time. Kristi has 2 year old twins, Brynn and Logan..so you can only imagine that going to the grocery store can be pretty tough! They are so sweet, I love babysitting them!

Sweet Brynn- she looks just like her momma!!

Logan- usually super shy, wanted his turn with the camera!

There is that shy Logan..

When I take a picture with my camera, right before the flash, an orange light blinks. Logan was laughing so hard because he saw the blinking light and though it was on his face..so he was giggling and trying to get the light 'off' his face.
We went outside for awhile and walked the street about 34526 times with his popper mower. He HAD to have his sunglasses on. He is such the stud.

Whew- busy week- and now I am here alone with Britt and that crazy dog in the backyard (Daphnee- I have a video I need to post, just to show how really wild she is..) Jordan wont be back until Sunday at the earliest. :*( I hate weeks like this.. I'm at the VA- so really out of my comfort zone. It should be fun, though--not too bad. Can't wait for him to come home- already! but his view is beautiful, don't you think?!

It's That Love Thing

Earlier this week Jordan came to me and said, "Hey, Sweet Pea..why don't we go on a date this weekend?" My response went a little something like, "You're crazy to think that we can fathom going on a date this weekend.. it's Valentine's Day weekend!" and he said-- "..Really?!"

It has been at least 3 months since we went on a real date, like, a dinner and a movie date. That is our favorite thing to do, and the past months we have been making dinner at home and renting movies or catching up on our DVR'd shows while I do homework. We decided to go to an early dinner and movie- beat the crazies trying to go out for Valentine's Day. Because we weren't celebrating Valentine's Day..just going on a date- finallly! haha..
We ate at BJ's Brewhouse- one of our favorite places. They have a menu the size of Indiana, so I almost have to make up my mind for what I'm getting before we go there or else we will never eat. You can never go wrong with their pizza, but it was only about 32 degrees outside, and so I wanted like a soup or pasta :) yum!
We have been so out of the loop on any upcoming movies or anything like that, so when we went to look up movies, I was like 'HUH?..don't have a clue what to pick.' So we chose Valentine's Day. How appropriate, right?? Actually, it was the only one either of us had heard about. We were almost skeptical because the last movie we saw with a cast of famous actors, it wasn't all that great. But this one was SO cute. So cute. and I love, LOVE Julia Roberts..and Bradley Cooper is an absolute doll. So handsome. It was a good light-hearted-make-ya-laugh date movie. :)

Saturday Night, Jenna and Adam invited us over to their house for dinner. Before we knew it- it was a party! The Massey's came..and I was exceptionally excited when Jenny called me to say that her and Josh made plans to come, too!

An oportune time for photos...
Jennifer, Jenna, and Amber

My Lindsey BUCK came! This lil' miss and I go WAY back
Them Ya-Yas..

The Jennings

(future) Vineyard's

Jenna made dinner- and I made dessert! A strawberry cake in honor of a 'holiday' filled with Pink, Pink, and more Pink. Very delicious if I do say so myself. Sorry for the picture quality- it was with my iPhone..

Happy Valentine's Day!

12.5 Inches..

So, I woke up this morning to a phone call from my preceptor at the North Texas Food Bank saying they were closed. That means a Snow Day for me. I retract the statement I made yesterday that interns don't get snow days..Interns that are at the Food Bank for their rotation that week DO get snow days ;)

It still looked like this when I woke up this morning...

So, I warmed up with this...
and these..(LOVE my sweater boot slippers!)

I'm working from home today- and watching intermittent Food Network and Project Runway reruns due to the 10 pound layer of powder on my satellite dish, and listening to what sounds like a bowling competition above my head. The snow is melting and falling off the trees and tumbling to my roof below.
Jordan gets home today- So ready for him after he has been gone on a 3-day hunting trip!

Chilly Air

A snowy blast hit us sometime last night while I was sound asleep and toasty in my bed. I woke up while it was still dark outside, but could see the brightness from the white ground glowing through my window! I snowed big gorgeous snowflakes all day long (and still is!) Because I'm an intern..and the hospital doesn't close for a 'snow day'..we had to go in to work. But we had fun doing it!

Anna, Ashley and Amber

The whole gang

Silly Kids!
Our street
My backyard (with the firewood pile that will be unused this evening..Jordan is out of town with Daphnee doing his last hunt for the season.)

Britt and I enjoyed playing in the backyard without Crazy (Daphnee)
Licking the snow off my face!

I think I'll make soup for dinner..

A Penny for Your Thoughts..

Shelby posted this on her blog- and like her, I laughed through every one of these! Great way to end my ever so stressfree Monday evening (I finished my admin project and presented it today with flying colors! ARM-PUMP! WOO!)
Random Thoughts for the Day:
(Author unknown)
1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out
of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that
you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection....again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? ) but when I immediately call
back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the
phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of
importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they
call.

18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day " Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How do I respond to that?

19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

Sweet Relief

Yay! I got out of the house this weekend, and I have pictures to prove it :) This week I have been putting all my energy into the final touches of my project presentation, that tomorrow I will be presenting- finally. It has been a LONG 4 months messing with all this. Blechhh.
Thursday Patrick and his girlfriend, Kat, came to visit for a college tour. It was a pretty low key visit for them, mainly because I was consumed with my project stuff--but they understood, and I was forgiven when I presented them with a home-cooked meal every night. Just like a good sister should! So, it was PJs and movies for us.

Patrick and Kat (Yes, he is younger than me! By 7 years..)

Saturday consisted of Wedding Festivites with Jenna Bree! Susan came in town from Houston and we all went for our dress fittings. I got to see Jenna in her dress, which was soooo beautiful on her. The dress on the hanger does not do justice for what it does for Jenna when she puts it on.
This is the bridesmaid dress..kind of. It will be a little different, with a non-traditional twist.

Oh, and me and Suz got some boobs for $20.00. Last time I checked they were running for about $5,000. We got a steal ;)
A Bride and her Bridesmaids at BJ's Brewhouse for lunch..love this place.

I also got my first taste for Spring/Summer this weekend. No, it wasn't the 45 degree, rainy weather that drew me in..it was William Sonoma and their super cute drinkware. Makes me want to put on my summer dress and wedge sandals, and eat some watermelon by the pool.

So ready for it. I LOVE sweater weather, but my tanktops and cotton capris are calling my name! Can I get some open toe shoes, please?!

Another Uneventful Weekend...

This weekend wasn't anything fantastic..I mainly concentrated on winding down from my hectic week and also working on my focus for this week: the dreaded admin project. So-- it isn't THAT dreaded..but its a lot of work, and next Monday I proceed to stand in front of a fireing squad and present my case. FUN! Tehe..

I have to apologize for my last whine-y post..I chuckled just now when I read it. I was feeling quite sorry for myself at the moment (as if you couldn't tell!!)
Today, in between powerpoint slides, Diet Coke, and Giada on Food Network, I decided to conquer laundry..

My housewife characteristics have not been on their best behavior. This has been our 'closet' for the past..*ahem* several weeks. There- I said it. Had to admit it.

At least it is all clean..wrinkley, but CLEAN.

This weekend should be fun- Patrick is coming to Dallas for a visit, bridesmaid dress and wedding activities with Jenna, and Super Bowl party with our ABF. Pictures are in my future!!

Time to FOLD!!
