bubble bath fun with the first years disney baby

bath time.  one of our favorite parts of the day.  I cant even mention the word b a t h without Parker stripping to her bare bottom and hi-tailing it onto the empty tub.  when we had the opportunity to play with some new bath toys from the first years the girls were PUMPED!  

I'm quite sure the big girls drank way too much bathwater tea playing with the Minnie Mouse bath tea set.  I mean, over and over and over.. they even let Baker get in on that bath time beverage.

Jolie kept saying "its time for TEEE kah-kerr (Parker)!"

Baker spent most of her time with the squirt toys- I mentioned in her 8 month update that she's a big fan of these and when it was all said and done we loaded up the toys to drip dry in the Minnie Mouse bath scoop and storage.  

 but of course there were bubbles. lots and lots of them.

Baker's First | Bathtime

Baker's firsts.  I get so giddy to think about these new ventures with our baby girl.

Not only as a new mama to miss Baker, but to be able to include Parker and Jolie into the scenario too!  We've made a real effort to include the girls in everything they can be (and want to be for that matter..).  Parker and Jolie get so excited to help, play, feed, rock, and love on 'baby Baker' - so it was important that we included them in her first bathtime experience as well.

They were SO excited.

I've been waiting for Baker's belly button to fall off and finally, finally it fell off earlier this week- at 21 days old.  It seemed like it was taking forever (normal is 7-21 days), but alas the wait for Baker's bath time was over:)  I was so over the sponge baths- I never felt like it 'cleaned' her well enough and she always seemed dry the next day.

Not completely sure how Baker would do with soaps and lotions (we had the hardest time with Parker - even the classic Johnson's and Johnson's broke her out into a rash) I welcomed the opportunity to try out Mustela Bébé products.  After reading a little more about their products, I was impressed with all this brand had to offer.  I have seen their products on the shelves lining the baby aisles, but had never picked them up to try.

For Baker's first bath, I used the Foam Shampoo for Newborns, and it was perfect for exfoliating her baby head and removing the dry skin that had accumulated on her scalp and forehead since she was born.

Not to mention- it smells amazing and provides promise of prevention of cradle cap.

After washing her hair, I lathered her up with 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash - and once again, smells amazing and got her squeaky clean.

While Baker wasn't the biggest fan of her time in the tub, I am hopeful she'll come around to loving them sooner or later.  We take a lot of bubble baths in this house (we also tried Mustela's mild bubble bath, and really love it!) 

The girls loved having the littlest sister share their evening bubble bath - they talked about it all through dinner and as we laid them down for bed.  

Talk about crazy adorable.

Thinking about all these firsts to come with our Baker Bree lets me relive those moments I had with the twins just two short years ago all over again.  Even something as simple as bath time.. because, you guys, I thought about her first bath for like a week.
I lathered her up from head to toe with the most yummy smelling baby lotion and the sister girl slept for 3 hours - through dinner and into the late evening.  She was wiped!

So excited for all the Baker's Firsts to come.

Even if she cries the entire way through.

Weekend DIY

Its been one of those weeks where I just felt like today would never everrrrr get here. 

ever.

I have officially reached the stage in pregnancy when I am completely unmotivated and just want to be incredibly lazy.  My co-workers are lucky that I arrive to work (late) every morning in a 'presentable' manner.  The no-pants club hasn't made its debut to all these biz professionals.

yet.

My nesting comes in sprees and most often when I am awake to midnight doing piddle-y things to make me feel more accomplished and free to go to bed.  Other times I cant bring myself to get off the couch to do a darn thing.

BUT- I promised a Weekend DIY in the title of this blog post, which is what likely drew you in to read.

Truth be told, this little blog-o-mine will never be a credible DIY blog, as badly as I wish to be crafty.  I have plenty of ideas, but my OCD brain never allows the follow through.

BUT..

..for your Weekend DIY: The perfect bubble bath.

I have become pretty crafty with getting the perfect suds for a couple of my favorite girls - and while its not a great big secret, I get asked about them often.. because, well a lot of my grammable material is in the tub.  It is absolutely their most favorite place to be right now. 

Did you know there is like seven hundred different recipes for making your own bubble bath via Pinterest? You wont find a recipe here.

If you really want to get a good sud going, you could also soften your water first.  If you have hard water, add a little baking soda to the water and stir that around and then add the bubbles- they will froth up a lot more.

The best end to my week is looking forward to a weekend with these two bubble babes and their daddy.  Bring on the weekend!

Bubbles

For Christmas, their Auntie got Parker and Jolie a couple bottles of princess bubble bath (Target) and waiting to use it was the biggest mistake of my motherhood.

Did you know bubbles have secret toddler powers?

They do. 

They have superhero-like abilities to make it so that all is right in the toddler world.

We have found ourselves in the bath at 2pm in the afternoon after a nap strike (..those are happening too frequently as of late).

P&J will play in the bubbles until the water is frigid and their baby teeth are chattering and I pull them out nearly kicking and screaming.

The Easter Bunny threw a couple of those $1 bubble wands in these girls' baskets, and after a particularly questionable afternoon of tantrums (questionable meaning - was I going to pull my hair out or spare myself the bald spots?) Jordan had the bright idea of bringing them into the bath with us. 

I got lots of questions after posting this picture to instagram earlier this week.. how did I do it?!  By pure chance.  100% chance.  Jordan (who stands about a head or more taller than me) stood next to me and blew the bubbles and I just started snapping away with my iPhone (6).  That's about how it goes with all the pictures I take.. snap about 10-15 before even looking at what I've taken, and then go through with the hope that I've captured something good.

Out of about 18 that I took - I kept three that were my favorite:)
