We Eat | Turkey Dogs & Cheesy Cheddar Scramble

Breakfast {food} for dinner.  Yes please!  We are one to pull out the waffle maker at least once a month to whip up some fluffy cakes with syrup filled pockets.  And lets be real for a second.  Eggs aren't just a breakfast food.  I can pretty much eat a veggie omelet any time of the day.

It took a couple times of offering eggs to the girls before they would actually take more than three bites. Then randomly Jolie swiped a handful of eggs off my plate one afternoon at brunch and the rest was history.  The girl loves eggs.

When thinking of something other than pork sausage or bacon to offer my girls..
..something on the healthier side..
Turkey dogs.  Nitrate and chemical preservative free!
Low in fat, too.
I like these by Applegate Farms.  Picked 'em up at Target.

Turkey Dogs
Cheesy Cheddar Scramble

3 whole eggs
splash of whole milk (we buy organic)
pinch of salt
pinch of black pepper
2 turkey dogs, sliced
1/4 cup shredded whole milk cheddar cheese

Whip first 4 ingredients in a small mixing bowl and pour into a heated pan coated in canola cooking spray.  Allow to cook, stirring with a rubber spatula to scramble.  Once eggs are soft cooked, throw in your sliced hot dogs and sprinkle with shredded cheese.  Continue to warm until cheese is melted and eggs are fully cooked.
In less than 10 minutes dinner is served!
I often save this quick dinner for busy evenings and I need to get something in their bellies quickly before we head out the door.

We aren't far from introducing utensils to Parker and Jolie.
They absolutely despise getting their hands dirty.

Love that little profile.

Many have asked for a detailed post regarding meal planning for my little birds and I promise it is coming.  I am still compiling a list and will get it up for your viewing pleasure soon!

Also- if you ask a question without an email attached to your name, (no-reply comment blogger) I can't respond!  I feel terrible when their is a question and I am unable to respond.  Feel free to email me or leave a comment with an email attached to your name with any questions you have.

Yum, that looks good! I will have to find some safe hot dogs to introduce to my 13 month old girl twins. I wish your girls could teach mine a lesson about not getting food all over! The immediately get it all over their hands, faces and hair. Every meal lol.

Great! I asked via IG if you could blog about your meal planning/prepping, so I'm so excited that a post is in the works. I'd love it if you could include (or email me) an idea of when you started introducing different foods to your girls. I have a very hungry seven-month-old, who hasn't met a food she doesn't like (except green beans...oy...she hates green beans). She doesn't have any teeth yet, but I know she's up for trying new things--at the appropriate times, of course! Thanks for sharing! I enjoy reading your blog and following your littles on IG :)

Oh we love breakfast for dinner over here too! Me especially! Its a great go to when you need something quick and cant thing of anything else. And I think its funny that your girls don't like getting their hands dirty! My little man does NOT like it one bit either. He will play outside in the dirt, or with his food, then look at his hands and show them to me saying "dut, wash" LOL! Silly kids.

impressed that your littles eat so good! My 4 year old just started eating egg whites this year!

I'm not normally one to do this, but kids choking is one of my biggest fears...please please please cut those hot dogs in half length wise! Hot dogs are the same diameter as their little throats and can very easily get stuck.

sorry to be a stick in the mud.

Yum! There isn't much more comforting in life than breakfast for dinner!

In agreement with Ashley...those hotdogs are the perfect size to get lodged in a babies throat..I would cut them in half or quarters. Your babies are precious and I love reading your blog!

Yet something else to try :). My son is almost 13 months and has been picky with meat. I made a batch of the turkey meatballs this week that you posted and he gobbles them up !! Thank you for great ideas. :)

Yeah! I cant wait. I have a 10mo and she will eat anything (pretty much) but I always get stumped on meals for her since she doesn't have teeth but refuses baby food.

I'm the old one - Nana to five ranging in age from 4 to 14 and I enjoy reading how you are raising your girls. I have learned how much has changed since my boys - now 42 & 36 were small. As soon as they were in a high chair, the spoon was on the tray - they might not use it but it wasn't introduced later. Have a great day. Becky in NC

Jump in with the utensils! I have the take and toss spoons for my 6m old, I load the spoon for her, but she can get it right to her mouth. I bet Parker and Jolie could do it!! Can't wait to try these turkey dogs when Elli is a little older!

Our preschool at church banned hotdogs cut that way, so glad someone else mentioned it. Such beautiful girls. They are growing up too fast. They are little girls now!

Thanks for this idea. My twins just turned 2 and one is super picky. I made scrambled eggs last night and mixed them with cut up turkey lunch meat. I had one tortilla so I made a wrap and stuffed it with the mixture and split it in half for them and then gave them the remaining mixture in bowls. They devoured all of it!!!! I am keeping this recipe in my back pocket. :)
