...is SOOOO busy. Period. Can life be busy AND boring? Don't get me wrong--I am loving internship and such, but, as you can tell with the last weeks of NON-posting and sans-picture of this post, I have a whole lot of boring business going on. My days (including weekends!) since rotations started up again have consisted of very little sleep, burning and blurred vision from staring at the computer and lots and lots of research and nutrition specialty textbooks. This week I'm finishing up my cardiology rotation, and let me tell you..I have never done so much homework in my life. On top of getting to the hospital by 7am (to do research for my administration project) and not finishing my patients and leaving until around 7:15pm, I also have memorization of terms and medications, a bajillion circumstantial case studies, my real patients with CHF, COPD, CAD, CRF, ARF, DM I and II...all needing diet education-- Cardiac, Na2gm, DM, Hemodialysis...etc, etc, etc ETC. I'm ready for the weekend. But, my weekend will further consist of preparing for my HUGE adminstration project that I am due to present in a couple weeks, that I have to finish up with reasearch, powerpoint, paper, handouts..and then more rotation studying and homework. Jordan and I have not gone to bed at the same time in I can't tell you how long. He's in bed right now-- for the past hour or so..I have fallen asleep at least twice tonight finishing my work due tomorrow.
Sorry for my gripe session. Just had to get it out. NOW, back to nutrition planning for my patient with esophageal ulcers that can't eat and has been living on 4 Boost Plus supplement shakes a day for the past 3-4 weeks. I spent my afternoon trying to convince him that his pureed eggs are DELICOUS! He was 6'3" and was 230lbs. NOW, he is 6'3" and 181lbs. His calorie count shows him only consuming about 700-800 calories/day. He is in bad shape.
Tomorrow is Friday. yaay. (I don't have the energy for the exclamation point.)
