Countdown to Little Sister

The home stretch.
We have arrived.
Yesterday I was walking to my car after work and a funny guy I work with was passing me in the parking lot and let out "you are running out of time!"
Well, yea.. I am.
It seems like everywhere I go (and I mean EVERYwhere) I have people asking me "When is that sweet baby due?!"  I had two older gals ask me while standing in the frozen food section.. when I said that I had 6 weeks left - they both, with raised eyebrows let out a chuckle.
"Where are you going to put 6 weeks of baby?"

With these last weeks literally laid out before me, we couldn't be more excited to meet this baby girl.  So many unknowns- but all related to how she will look, act.. her eyes, her hair.. and holy moly I cant wait to see that sweet baby smile.
Not to mention her smell.  Baby head smells should be bottled for all eternity.
While I feel more prepared for this baby girl's arrival - it is sort of a catch 22 on that.  Jordan did about a million things in preparation for the twins' arrival, while I have had the hands on experience this go round.  When I mention an idea or desire for how I would like something done, my sweet Jordan has little objection.  It has all been so very fun for me.
The Countdown List
the nursery
We are nearing its completion.  Waiting on small items to arrive in the mail (how excited am I to check the mail every single day..) and her bedding.  Bedding should be finishing in the next couple weeks!  We have the 33 year old crib we are using from Jordan's baby-hood but its not assembled- and I've given Jordan the tasked of putting it together before this weekend.  I also plan to hang that shelf and those frames, too!  I spent several hours earlier this week in her room - going through the bins of clothing I have saved and hanging them/arranging them into her dresser.  I also put away swaddle blankets, burp cloths, and but dividers in her 'diaper drawer'.   I'm stealing a couple things from the twins' nursery so I don't have to repurchase.. the changing pad and a few organizational items that just don't get used by the girls anymore.  Oh. and a crib mattress..
toddler beds (sort of)
because I am stealing one of the mattresses from the twins' crib, that means we are well into the stage where we are ready to make the transition.  We made the mistake of not purchasing the conversion kit for the cribs we bought for the twins, and it has since been discontinued.. BUT, we have decided that we are gong to skip the toddler beds and go straight to twin beds.  We have been talking about this for a couple months, and now is the time to do it.  While visiting their great grandparents in Belton the girls slept in twin beds and did just fine - so I think this will be a good fit for them.
Becoming big sisters AND getting to sleep in their big girl beds.  They are growing too fast.
the other stuff
-the CBR kit arrived in the mail late last week.. THAT made it incredible real for me.  We did this as the very last thing when the twins were born, like days before, so to already have it in my possession makes it really seem like we are in the countdown.
-I plan to pack my hospital bag in the next week or so.. this time will be MUCH different after the enormous bag I brought with me when the twins were born and didn't even open it.  (I plan to do a post about this).  I have this sweet baby's going home outfit and her beanie already, so its just about getting everything in one place.
-deciding on a game plan for d-day.  We have talked about this briefly and what to do and how to do it, and for whatever reason it is giving me anxiety to think about.  I don't want the twins to be confused or worried or anxious about any of this - and so more worry on my part is for them.  I do know that my last day of work is July 10th (Friday), and D-Day is scheduled for July 14th (Tuesday) if she doesn't decide to come earlier (please don't decide to come earlier..)
-diapers.  I haven't even thought about these.  Its funny how quickly we forget about those little things.. I have a huge box of bottles (hello, two of everything) in the attic that need a good washing and organization.  I pulled down my pump, too.  Hello old friend.  Its not so much of a pleasure, but we will be spending the next several months developing our close knit bond again.
paint the room
hang chandelier fixture (Canton steal)
Buy a rug
changing table
rocking chair
crib
now its just about getting it put together:)
decide on crib bedding
fabric banner
hang shelving
changing table hardware
hang shabby frames
..planning on forming a collage to arrange over the changing table (opposite of the wood wall)
accessorize
the little things!  I have decided on most of the accessories
lighting (lamp for the changing table)
FOUND it (all the heart eyes!)

Lastly.. spending as much time as we can soaking up the summer before baby girl arrives.  I have a paper calendar that I write everything out on, and the amount of 'stuff' we have going on in the next 6 weeks is impressive.  Not stressful busy, but the good kind of busy.  The right kind.  The right kind for us.
5 weeks + 6 days to go.  Lets do it.

To save some stress of finding toddler beds with baby girl #3 coming asap, we didn't buy the conversion parts of our crib/bed either, so after a scary fall when my son was 18 months, we had to switch him right away. We went to Target that night and bought a pool noodle and stuck it under the sheet. We've been doing it this way for 6 months now and it works perfect! Also, Walmart.com sells mattresses pretty cheap! Just to buy you some more time so you don't have too much to worry about! :)
