swim styles for mama

this post brought to you by nap time, my third cup of coffee and daydreams of the beach and smells of coconut.  praying that the neighbor next door doesn't stir the littlest with his monstrously loud lawn mower.  why are they always SO much louder when you want it to be quiet? 
the mister and I leave in just a few short weeks for an adults-only vacation to Cabo (omgggg, I'm mega excited). I started to browse my favorite places for suits about a month ago and have come up with some really great pieces for this post-baby bod.  its been a couple years since I bought a new bathing suit.. last year I was 8 months pregnant when I donned my bathing suit for the first time that summer, and I had little desire to buy anything new with a baby on the way to keep me busy and out of the pool- nothing to complain about:)

T O P S
I am not very well endowed.  never have been and probably never will be- but to be honest it was breastfeeding the twin babes that really did me in on that department.  after they weaned I had nothing, nada, zilch left.  and it never came back.  not even while I've been breastfeeding Baker.
all that being said.. these tops work well for me on my body.  however, I think that if you get the right size (and know your right size for that matter) it makes a huge difference!
Victoria has been styling my poolside wear for basically my entire adult life.  I love their styles and the versatility of their fit.  I have the hardest time finding something in store- but after being fitted and wearing VS for years I know the right size.  this year was a little different.  I wasn't sure what size I needed because my shape has changed quite a bit in the last three years.  I ordered a couple things and then had to return and reorder, but I have a suit that I really love.  they now offer in-store exchanges- making my life a million times easier.  
traditionally I have found that the bralette is my favorite.  I do size up from my regular because they tend to run on the smaller size.  this one from VS and this one from target are equally amazing.  I prefer these to the triangle tops.  I wore a flounce top similar to this through the tail end of pregnancy and it was modest enough without going the whole traditional maternity bathing suit tent route.

I'm telling you.. I got nothin.
the getaway halter is my favorite (I have it in white!) because it gives me shape and a little push with the underwire+halter action.  same for the flirt bandeau option.  I like these because they come in actual cup sizes- allowing me to choose the best fit to hold everything in!  

B O T T O M S  
I'm really picky about what covers my rear.  my favorite bottoms ever have always been these knockout bikini bottoms.. I almost have them in every color after purchasing them over the years.  after my c-section with Baker I was left with a smaller and less noticeable scar (yippee!) but at my 6 week post-op it was confirmed that my skin had retracted on one side.. so and I have this puffy place that sticks out.. and on the right day you can even see it through my pants.  thankfully after working out pretty consistently over the last few months that puffy thing has significantly become less noticeable, but its definitely still there!  
this year I am trying something new.  the heavenly bikini is a much higher rise than the knockout version and although the knockout covers my c-section scar, I feel more confident in the full coverage option this foldover bottom offers.
something else I'm trying?  the classic highwaist bikini.  I love the look of this vintage style bottom- and my favorite suit is actually ON SALE right now- yea, girls.  
what you want to make sure of with the high waisted bottoms is that it comes above your belly button to prevent that muffin-top we love to hate.

T H E O N E - P I E C E
(+ one-ish)
I've never bought a one piece suit before, but if ever was the right time, this is the year to do it. the options are amazing!!  I never thought I would want to wear a one piece, but having one in my summer swim collection is really pretty fun!  I fell in love with this black suit with lace detail.  and the halter option makes it trendy.. and the plunging neckline and delicate lace detail keeps keeps the focus up here rather than around that puffy place I mentioned before:)  and then theres the tankini.  giving a little more coverage but not putting it all out there the way some of the two-piece suit options are these days.  plus- if you are pregnant in the summer, these are the perfect go-to! plus, plus a two-piece tankini makes it a breeze to go to the bathroom.

forget trying to find the right suit  for your the body-type because these days there is no such thing!
its all about finding the right fit and what you ultimately feel comfortable and beautiful in.
perfect swim suit? check.
floppy hat? check.
cheap sunnies? check.

nine month favorites

life is very busy these days.  I'm all about the easy and convenient and whatever makes my life easier- you know? every month I think back about what has been our absolute favorites and most frequently used 'stuff'.  Baker has grown exponentially over the last couple months and while I list a handful of things here around the same time every thirty days or so, we still use a lot (or basically everything) from the other monthly favorites posts.

we had such a fun opportunity to try out the new sure grip miracle mat by Nuby.  when doing a quick search online I can only find it available in the Canadian market- but they are coming soon!  this mat suctions to the top of the highchair tray and acts like a shallow bowl/plate.  its easy to add more than one food and keep them separated.. and out of her highchair seat.  be on the lookout! these mats will be available at babies r us in June and on Amazon in July.

since Baker was born I've been trying to push her into having a 'lovey'. I know that sounds ridiculous and silly but its all I know because both my big girls still have their lovey's (Jolie's puppy and Parker's wubby monkey) and they love them- I want that for Baker, too!  it took one night with this uber soft bunny in her crib before she absolutely fell in love.  she LOVES this bunny and let me just say- it is the softest stuffed animal ever!

we are still introducing the sippy cup to Baker, and she's doing really well! we started with the spout sippy cups and will eventually make the transition to the straw sippy cups.  this was a good place to start for us and thankfully these sippy cups don't leak!

we've tried them all.  ALL.  Baker has never been really interested in taking a pacifier which wasn't  huge deal to me, but really it might have been the key we were looking for when it came to her sleeping through the night.  self soothing at its finest!  for whatever reason we LOVE these pacifiers. we also have three of these pacifier finders and about eleven loose pacis around and about her crib.

I was recently introduced to thirty-one and while I could literally pick out one of everything in their catalog, I swear this thermal tote is the best.  with three babies in tow- I need sippy cups, snacks, water bottles, baby food.. and it all fits!  the other day the girls stayed at their BB's house while we had our carpet cleaned and I packed up three bottles, a sippy cup, two pouches of purees, a yogurt cup + a container of puffs.  no joke!  its not overly huge and its really easy to carry around.

these are a go-to dinner about two or three times a week!  last night Baker gobbled up the teriyaki beef meatballs with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli + cheese.

I always try to throw in a favorite toy or two every month and this one is by far her most favorite at the moment. this is one that we kept from when the twins were little bitty.. and to be honest it was never put away!  the twins would still play with it randomly here and there before Baker was born and now all three of them play together with the alphabet train.  Baker is finally learning how to put the letters into the top of the train and watch them shoot out into the seat.  she loves it!  I also think she's partial to this toy because its the one thing her big sisters will sit down and play/teach her.

mama favorites | spring uniform

Spring is here!  Texas has a track record for a random snow fall in March/April.. so I don't want to get too excited, but for real I'm ready for the warmer weather.   
if you know me, you know I'm a big fan of color.. lots of bright colors for spring and summer, but in this mama hood season of life, for whatever reason, I've been draw to the neutrals and greys and really focusing on comfort style.  what does that look like for me?

I got a pair of boyfriend denim shorts a couple years ago and have come to live in them during the summer months.  I was sad when I couldn't find the boyfriend shorts again this season.. but their girlfriend shorts are just as amazing.  and I also found this version of boyfriend shorts. I also love these summer shorts and these chinos (give me all the colors!)  
while a classic pair of designer sandals are most definitely a splurge, I found some less expensive options here + here!
I've never been a handbag gal but it seems like since I became a mom I am looking for more ways to make my life easier when on the go.  going from professional to mama all in a days work can be tough, but I think I've found a bag that transitions pretty well.  my Clara tote from better life bags has quickly become my favorite go-to work/home bag.  it holds my planner + work binder + laptop with room to spare for pacifiers + diapers/wipes.. and hand sanitizer (duh).

I also wanted to mention that these jeans are not only less that $100.. they are $66!
what.
you know what that means?  it means you need them. 
..and everyone needs a pair of $12 sunnies. especially when you have a toddler or two that insist on wearing them on their face with all their sticky hands all over them.  
I do really want to splurge on a pair of ray bans before the summer is over.
hiding them from the toddler monsters might be an issue..

eight month favorites

now that we have a baby on the move, her favorites have changed quite a bit.  she doesn't sit long enough before she's on to the next one. not to mention the serious need to keep up with the cool kids in her life, she's got to have something that holds her attention for longer than eleven seconds.  
you can go ahead and throw on this list the hairbrush, wooden mickey mouse shaped magnets you can find littered about the kitchen floors, barbie doll legs and arms- good for chewing- and legos.  the big kind. also good for chewing.

felt storage basket.  I randomly came across this storage bin while looking for Easter baskets for the babes.  I was unsuccessfully using a dainty little wire basket, but as her toy collection has grown over the last eight months, that basket wasn't cutting it any more.  I l.o.v.e. this basket.  it is rather deep, but its fantastic for holding all of Baker's smallish toys - AND it has handles making it easy to move from room to room if need be.  I want like five more of these guys.
sit to stand walker.  we pulled both this walker and that music activity table down from the attic earlier this month.  rather than Baker pull up on everything dangerous in sight (!!!), she pulls up and stays put for several minutes- thank heavens!  we thrifted both of these toys when the twins were wee bits and they are still in excellent condition.  one of the few things we kept and I'm sure glad we did!
bath toys. the best time of the day is bath time.  not only for loosening the layer of food covering every inch of her little body, but she has the BEST time playing in the water and splashing about.  soaking her mama is the name of the game, and she always wins:)  when she's not attempting to climb out of the tub (!!!) she loves these squirt toys and these floating balls. they keep her busy enough for me to get her lathered up before she starts off like a little motorboat around and around that tub. I swear the twins were never this busy.  maybe I'm just in denial, but I swear. 
snack cups.  now that Baker is eating solid food and snacks, I have been making a point to bring snacks and food along for her when we are out and about.  I relied on these stackable snack containers when the twins were little and have once again found good use out of them.  cheerios, yogurt melts, baby puffs.. sliced strawberries, apples, peas.. you name it.  its easy to have those on hand and I toss the cylinder in my diaper bag and we are off!  I also have used this similar snack container and I like it just the same.
rainbow stacker.  she hasn't figured out how to legitimately stack the rings, but we have been practicing on it- but most of the time the wooden rings end up in her mouth.  I suppose this age is all about the chew toys.  doesn't stop me from keep up with her fine motor skills!

filling the baskets

my girls might be a little too young for a candy-induced sugar rush! so- here are a few fun non-candy (but still just as sweet!) ideas for filling your babes' Easter baskets!
pajamas.  c'mon.  you knew that was coming:)  we love love love jams and give me another reason for matching my three girls and I'm all in.  hanna's are a classic favorite and old navy has the best and most affordable for the quality- win.win.
little blue olive is among my favorite for special occasions and her Easter fawn headband is precious!  I also love the new spring-y colors Hilary just released over at free babes -- stay tuned next week for a fun giveaway!  
its about that time for Baker to start getting the hang of her sippy cup and Nuby had been our all time (non-leaking!!) favorite since the twins were wee babes.  I also think this teether toy is festive and sweet- and while we have about a million, there is always room for a couple more!  I got a the tooth fairy maileg mouse at the magnolia silos when I visited over thanksgiving and fell in love!  these are ADORABLE!  the girls ended up getting one in each of their stockings at Christmas and to this day they still carry them around.  I can see one on the living room floor out of the corner of my eye as we speak:) 
some other things that are easy and relatively cheap: coloring books + board books.. and this sweet book that I cannot wait to share with my girls. I met the author, Amy, this past weekend at hope spoken and she is darling! 

I was recently introduced to thirty-one and after filling my online cart with things to make my life easier. this creative caddy by thirty-one is one that I have plans to use for our church easter egg hunt and all the other fun things that go along with this holiday- whats even sweeter is that I had them each personalized with the girls' names. I have to mention a few of my favorites like this weekender bag + this deluxe utility tote (use for groceries, parties, traveling, basically making life with three kiddos easier!) + this zipper pouch (holding diapers and wipes or makeup when traveling!) .. and of course you NEED one of their thermal lunch boxes or bags.  I know all my teacher friends love these.

friday favorites | beauty

its been awhile since I have shared my beauty favs!  some are the same but most are new finds that are by no means 'new' but I'm just late to the party on figuring out about them.  after using some of these products for a couple months now, I figure - if I'm loving these I bet you would, too! 

I've been on a little bit of a hair + face product kick, which might not be of surprise because since Baker was born makeup has taken a backseat.  I still wear it but its all about the basics for me. what really matters when people see me?  not looking like the walking dead.  so what can I put on my face in the shortest amount of time to make me look presentable. 
presentable is all that matters.. and then sometimes it doesn't matter.
like sometimes at target.  and sometimes at starbucks (thank the sweet lord for the drive thru).  and sometimes when you see people you haven't seen in forever.. and they don't recognize you.  I dunno if thats a good thing or a bad thing.
c'est la vie.

less makeup means that I work harder at the attempt to make my skin look good - I use the term good loosely because I was not blessed with great skin at all.  so even into my adult life and now my 30's its been a battle.  thankfully I have found a few products that don't clog my pores and don't make my skin freak out- I'm excited to share with you!

two words: living proof.  I have fallen INLOVE with this line of hair care, and honestly I don't know how I ever had a good hair day before it.  it was a recommendation of a friend to try out the living proof dry shampoo and an awesome recommendation at that!  I can get three really good days out of using this product just once the morning after a wash.  THREE days.  thats worth every penny!  I'm also loving the living proof 5-in-1 styling treatment.  its sort of like a hair lotion that you comb through your hair while its still wet.  I have gotten so many compliments since I started using this stuff I can never bring myself to stop using it:)  I also have their root lifting spray and volume mousse- but I've found that GUTS10 and the 5-in-1 styling treatment work best together for my hair if I am blow drying it straight after washing.  the mousse stands alone as a great styling tool and I like the root pump for when I am washing my hair at night and sleeping on it wet.  gives me the extra volume I need in the morning after sleeping on my hair all night.  they have so many great products I literally want to try them all!

I've tried just about every skin care regimen on the market and no matter how good its claim to fame may be- my face can always find something wrong with it (enter rolling eye emoji here). I have never  really bothered with anything anti aging (ever) but I'll be *ahem* halfway to my mid-thirties this year, and geez its starting to show!  I got the philosophy anti wrinkle cream as a sample and started using it just as my daily moisturizer.  while it might have the anti aging benefit I noticed just after a couple weeks of use that my pores are smaller and my cheeks are smoother.  using this in combination of the philosophy microdelivery face wash I have also noticed that my notoriously dry skin on my nose has diminished.  what is with the constant dry flake?!  
I use the microderm face wash every morning with my clarisonic mia 2 and I just feel like my face is really clean and refreshed.  at night I use philosophy purity face wash and it cleanses my face and eye makeup great!

speaking of makeup.. some of the essentials in my makeup drawer..
there was a time when I didn't care at all about a makeup brush- I was fine using the regular old sponge applicator that usually came with the eyeshadow or even the foundation wedges.  again with the samples.. but I got a small sample brush kit as a gift several years ago and I never looked back.  brushes are so important!  this foundation brush applies my favorite full coverage foundation evenly and without causing build up in one spot.  tarte full coverage foundation is the bomb (oh, hey 2001). when my favorite foundation was discontinued (why does that always happen?!) I was on the search for something different.  I have dark spots and some acne scarring and this covers better than I have ever used before- and believe me when I say that I have run the foundation gamut at the makeup counter.
another brush thats important is the style of blush brush you use. this brush in particular doesn't shed and it blends into my cheeks really well.  spending money on makeup brushes can feel silly and not important, but using a quality brush can make all the difference in how your finished makeup looks.   

maybelline has always been a standard go-to of mine since I was in high school.  I started using the fit me line of foundations and concealers and the maybelline fit me concealer is awesome!  and really affordable.  I get asked a lot about the brand of mascara I use and its the regular old maybelline volum' express falsies - black drama gives me lots of volume as well as height without having to curl my eyelashes.. who has time for that?!  I wish I did..
and when I want to splurge? urban decay big fatty mascara  is where its at.

seven month favorites

theres been a lot of change going on in this house over the last month- we started eating real food.  we are sitting, standing rolling, and just plan growing like a weed.  so many fun things about this month's list!  I will keep on saying it: this age is such a blast!

we used a pretty standard highchair with the twins.. and one thing is for sure- they were bulky and I was over having to throw the insert in the wash after almost every meal, so for Baker I was looking for something simple.  although it is a little more on the pricey side, it is seriously getting its use out of it!  zero crevices for foods to get stuck and the clean up is so simple!  I am all about that these days with two other babes running around while I am trying to clean up the dinner mess.
I don't know why it took me so long to get one of these for Baker's room.  she has basically been congested since she was two months old- I think its a combination of allergies and then getting a touch of a cold here and there.  either way- the first time with a humidifier in her room was life changing!  I like the crane cool mist humidifier because it is small in size, but still with a large tank.. I refill about every day and a half.   
when we started a regular sleep routine for Baker I picked up some of honest company's new ultra calming body wash and bubble bath (because, duh).  I love the way it smells and with her new found love of food she's an absolute mess after meal times and warrants a bath nearly every night.  
my most favorite comfies for Baker girl.  she's been wearing them since she was a tiny little thing, but by far my favorite are her gusset pants.  SO soft and the relaxed fit makes for an easy on and off for diaper changes. I want some in my size!
I've tried a handful of these teething wafers and by far these are my favorite.  they don't crumble and don't make a huge mess (compared to others) but they do get a little sticky.  I love that they are individually wrapped so it makes them easily portable.  
oh my goodness- THIS!  I have had these stowed away for months just waiting for the time when I could pull them out and they did not disappoint!  I fill them with organic fruit pouches (because the thought of making homemade purees right now just makes my head hurt..) and freeze for just a couple hours.  Baker loves them.  I mean LOVES them.  she will go to town on two or even three in one sitting!  little piglet loves the fruit pops:)
because they are so stinkin cute!  also because they are really soft and Baker loves to chew on them.  oh.. and if you have baby girl toddlers, beware.  these will end up in the mix with my little ponies and the littlest pet shop goodies.  they love them:) 
rest easy spoons 
my favorite spoons for feeding Baker.  I am only spoon feeding her whole milk yogurt, but these are great!  They have a longer length making for less mess when I'm scooping out the yogurt from the tiny little cup.  the bowl of the spoon isn't too deep but not completely flat- just right for getting the right amount for a little mouth.  the shape makes it easy to wipe the excess off Baker's baby cheeks and mouth, too!

toddler essentials


..and I'm back.  the combination of a quick work trip + sleep training my six month old had me exhausted last week, but well worth the last four days of her sleeping 7pm to 7am.  thats no joke.  more on that later:)

today I'm talking about toddler..err.. my three year old essentials + favorites!  I love these kind of posts and I haven't done one for the big girls in a long time.  things have changed as these girls have grown so much in the last year and out side of their constant move from favorite toy to their new favorite toy to the must have favorite toy..

these essentials remain in our every single day!
the nuby step stool makes my life so much easier when the big girls are in a panic for the potty and I am three minutes away from getting Baker to sleep for a much needed and prayed for afternoon nap.  this stool is used for everything- including turning on the bathroom light (or the playroom) and for helping get themselves situated on the potty without taking a dunk in the toilet.
I've talked about l'il critters gummy vites  (here) and we continue to love taking our gummy vitamins on a daily basis.  they usually take them in the morning with breakfast ...or if I forget (which happens often!) we take them with dinner.  just a little extra boost of nutrition, especially if its been a particularly off day and my babes are extra picky when it comes to mealtimes. Jo has become exceptionally sensitive when it comes to her skin.. which is so strange because Parker is the one with extra fare skin and we have taken a lot of care to make sure her skin is well nourished.. that being said- poor Jolie has had a hard time with random foods flaring up her eczema (mainly on her back and tummy) and we steer clear of pants and shirts that have a tag or panties with a thick elastic waistband- which, as a sidenote, brings me to another favorite- the carter's stretch panties are super soft, tagless and have zero itchy waistband for Jolie's sake.. 
..anyway, I had a fellow mama friend recommend california baby and when browsing their products I came across their eczema cream.  literally she sees relief within moments of application.
our pigtails have become a regular accessory and our favorite way to dress them up come from the lovely free babes.  she makes the most girlie and dainty hair clips (and bands for the littlest) and I LOVE them. the hand-tied look is so classic.  and her colors are amazing!
I cannot go without mentioning the oxo tot foldable booster.  We sold off the twins' highchairs we used for three solid years and traded them in for these big girl booster seats.  while I can appreciate how much room I have in my kitchen since we got rid of those two chairs and just have one + boosters, the girls love their new place at the table.
while we are talking about mealtime (sort of..) the camelbak eddy kids water bottle  and smart planet lunch box have been AWESOME favorites lately.  I mentioned these lunch boxes in my preschool favorites post right before the twins started school back in august, but we use them much more than just for school.  I take these to the park with snacks and or pack a picnic lunch for while we are out and about.  I just throw a coupe of these ice packs on the bottom and we are good to go!  they are also easy to use and for the girls to eat out of while we are in the car.  as far as the water bottles are concerned.. my kids drink a lot of water.  Jolie will down 3-5 bottles/day while Parker is more like two or three throughout the day.  I like these bottles because they hold quite of bit of water and will usually last us through a trip for errands or while the twins are at school.  they also fold shut and don't leak!  I do not look forward to being in the 'leaky sippy cup' stage with Baker...

six month favorites

I still cant believe I have a six month old.  Half a year already gone?? I have a hankering feeling that this next six months will go by even quicker.  So much has changed since the last time I had a couple of 6 month olds.  I still love my go-to items when it comes to the littlest sister, but there are some fun new things we have enjoyed in this sixth month of her hyper speed life - and even Parker and Jolie are having fun with her 'new toys' in the house- even if they do far surpass the age appropriate 3 year old toddlers.  They are OBSESSED with the frozen teethers.  I'm not totally sure what thats all about, but it is kind of hilarious.

We have a little basket in the corner of the living room that we keep all of Baker's toys in when we aren't playing with them.  During playtime, the twins love to bring their little sister a variety of things to keep busy with and they always reach for this toy.  It is really colorful, makes noise and just has a lot going on with it.  So- it easily has become Baker's favorite toy.  We also got this activity ball from Auntie for Christmas and love it, too!

the name of these offer enough of a description.  These are great not only because they stay cold longer than the typical liquid filled teethers, but they have a removable cover so that little miss can hold it just out of the freezer or fridge without getting her hands cold.  The rubber cover maintains room temperature, so the frozen gel doesn't transfer.  Plus- they are so cute, right??

Baker also got this from Auntie for Christmas, and it has quickly become her favorite toy!  I will say that since Baker has been sitting up more regularly and with more balance on her own this toy has become more fun to play with. She sits in front of it and can reach the places to touch and activates the dog to make noise easily.  When she was still on her belly she couldn't reach it or interact with it as well.

this is the most random toy, but Baker LOVES it.  I got this little frog guy in my monthly bluum box and when I opened it up I thought.. now what am I supposed to do with this??  Finally I just decided to hang it from her activity jumperoo center and omg.  She fell in love!!  She will sit there and ignore all other light, sound, and music to play with this hanging frog.  She chews, bats, shakes, and admires herself in his mirror.  Kind of the best of all worlds in her baby mind.

I had a lot of questions about the wedge we decided to put into Baker's crib at the beginning of this last month.  There was no research done or really even a second thought about what one we would buy- there was just one brand of wedge hanging out on the bottom of the shelf at Babies R Us- so there you go.  But truthfully, we have seen a difference in how soundly she sleeps at night since putting the wedge in her crib.  Poor girl has dealt with gas since she we teeny tiny and the wedge helps to relieve some of that pressure while sleeping on her tummy as well as keeps her elevated when on her back.  She has had a chronic cough for the last couple months and she definitely coughs less since being up on the wedge.  So many positives with this one.. we love it.

speaking of gas.. we thought that Baker suffered from reflux because she would spit up for hours after eating- but never cried, fussed, or seemed it to bother her.  None of us were totally convinced she had reflux and were hesitant to start medication.  We had just about tried everything when I thought that maybe gas bubbles in her tummy were the culprit behind all this and causing her to spit up even up to two hours after eating.  Since starting the gas drops she rarely to never spits up at all.  
overnight diapers
we've been wearing the honest brand diapers since Baker was about 4 weeks old.  She had a terrible allergic reaction to Pampers and per the recommendation of our pediatrician we looked into changing diapers- and after borrowing a few diapers from a friend to try, her terribly raw rash looked so much better within just 24 hours. ANYway- honest just came out with their overnight diapers and this was a game changer!  my one complaint about the honest diapers was that Baker would wake up wet or damp in the regular diapers if she slept through the night- until now! We were literally about to start trying out other brands- sort of like a trial and error to see if Baker could tolerate another diaper option because of this reason alone.  I logged in and added a package of overnight diapers to my next shipment the moment the email announcing them hit my inbox and it has made a 100% difference.

since Baker is exclusively breast-fed we have been giving her a DHA supplement with 400IU of vitamin D.  She gets one little dropper a day, and ya'll- it is so gross!  But no matter the brand its all gross.  Once Baker starts consistently eating more nutrient rich foods outside of breastmilk we might be about to cut back on the supplements, but for now this one works just right.

friday favorites | PJ love

we have a thing for pajamas.

there is something about sleepwear for my girls that brings me back into wishing for more and more wee babies j u s t so I can dress them in something comfortable.
we spend a lot of time in our pajamas.
often times you will find us at home- and if we are at home usually we will be in our pajamas. 
because- how can you be comfortable in jeans when you are just hanging out at home?  
am I right?? 
Jordan doesn't count in this vote because he can legit take a nap in his blue jeans.
not me.
..and.  occasionally you will find us out in public in our pjs.
and by public I mean target.

 we really love them and our drawers basically overflow, and yet I still keep adding them to my virtual shopping cart and end up buying them eventually and when they arrive on our front doorstep its all of the sudden time to get ready for bed- at 3pm in the afternoon. 
its basically an endless cycle because, well toddler and baby jams are just the sweetest thing on the planet.
its totally fine.  because its always time for pajamas.

I got an email yesterday from the twins' preschool about pajama day next week. 
I promptly began planning out what exactly they were going to wear- and oh my goodness so many pajamas options.  
the big day is a week away.
and by big day I mean fun at school in their pajamas day.
I even hear there will be popcorn.

but back to the precious pajamas...
one of the best ways to celebrate a holiday is with festive pajamas.
..and cake.  or yeast rolls dipped in mashed potatoes, if you are the savory type..
so- with christmas come and gone we have Valentine's Day and Easter to look forward to and celebrate in our jams-

five month favorites

this month we are entering new territory with our sweet little bug.  This girl is teething, (almost) sitting up unassisted, and exploring her surroundings- looking for anything and everything to stick in her mouth.  The joys of teething.. I'm not sure I'm ready for this!
exersaucer // We pulled this bad boy out the the attic this last month and Baker loooooves it!  This activity center in particular has the ability to be raised or lowered, allowing Baker to play without something underneath her to prop her up.  I thought for sure she was too small.. and once again I am surprised at how quickly she's growing.  She bounces around, pulls the toys, and watches in delight as the animals light up and make sounds in response to her movements.  We put her in this thing a couple times a day and she happily plays and talks to all her little friends. 
nutritive baby balm // double baby chin problems.  As teething has commenced, so has the drool!  All the moisture around her neck makes it hard to keep dry and therefore she's got some irritation in and around that area.  This baby balm calms the irritation and provides a barrier for making the redness worse with all the additional drool.
play tray + tray top toys // this girl is so active these days!  I mentioned the bumbo in our four month favorites post, and at the time she was still working on supporting herself and developing her core strength.  She's nearly mastered that component, and since then I bought the bumbo tray.  Just a little too small for a big girl highchair, the tray allows her to play with some of our favorite play top activity toys.  She loves to sit with her sisters in the playroom and be right in the middle of it all with her very own space to play with her toys, too!
soft activity book // this book is a combination of all Baker's favorite toys.  It crinkles.  It has texture.  Its colorful and its soft and easy to chew!  Baker's first book is a big hit in this house.  
drooler bibs // Drool.  Sort of the name of the game this month.  Guguberry is my favorite of the drooler bibs tat I've tried- and I cannot get enough!  The patterns are perfectly girly (she has boy options, too!) and the double layer of fabric- including the soft fluffy minky fabric on the reverse is perfect for keeping Baker's clothes dry- not to mention adding the sweetest accessory to my girl's outfit.  The bib snaps together in the back, and not too tight!

teethers // speaking of drool.  and teething.  and ohhhh the drool!  Teethers have been a major life saver this month.  Our favorites are definitely the Dr. Brown's coolees, ridgees, + flexees.  Using these teether toys have definitely offered relief to the pressure on Baker's sore gums- she puts everything in her mouth right now, but being able to have a toy specifically designed to help ease the pain is the best! The coolees hold the cold and I pop them in the freezer before letting B go to town in soothing those gums, but her favorite has got to be the flexees.  It is easy for her to wrap her hands around and keep ahold of it while she gnaws away.  I know it won't be long before we see a couple teeth rupture. I can already see the ridges of her bottom two showing through!  She is growing way too fast!

Holiday Wish List | the gent

Time to finish up the holiday wish lists- and last (but certainly not least!) are fun gift ideas for your guy!  I basically built this list around what Jordan wants/needs/and will be getting, as well as his requests:)  Homeboy had a loooonngg list this year, but here are the highlights!

j.crew flannel shirts // these are Jordan's all time favorite shirts.  He doesn't shop for himself very often- so once a year at Christmas and then sometimes on his birthday (March) I get him a couple of these.  They are a little on the pricey side, but when he wears them for years, I see that as a wardrobe investment piece.  Jordan doesn't care about that.. he likes the patterns:)
a good pair of slippers //  about six years ago I splurged and got Jordan a pair of these double leather lined slippers and he still wears them to this day.  It is time for a new pair- the bottoms are looking rough, but who can say they wore a pair of slippers for six years?  Every husband, father, brother could use a great pair of slippers. 
yeti low ball rambler // the sleekest of them all.. the lowball yeti rambler is not only for your tall beverages on the rocks, but you can use it for keeping your drinks hot or cold.  Jordan's first thought when he came upon this short glass version of his favorite drinking cup was to use it for coffee, not alcohol.  My guy has a thing for coffee- and if you could see the variety of coffee creamers we have in our refrigerator door, you would really be impressed. beats wireless earbuds // for my working man- he loves yard work, working out..and listening to music while he works (whistle while he works?).  If you happen the be our neighbor, you might just hear him belting a tune to Jeremy Camp or Randy Travis.  The wireless option is perfect for him to be able to move freely but still not lose sound.  He's tried the standard ear buds over and over and just cant get them to stay put, which is why he prefers the 'over the ear' bud the most.
dollar shave club // if you haven't caught wind of my (our) love for the dollar shave club - it is the most perfect gift.  After deciding to get Jordan a membership for Father's Day two years ago, I finally got a membership for myself (we do the $9/mo).   The razors are legit..and so cheap in price, but not in quality!  They recently came out with hair product and after trying a couple samples Jordan loves the hair paste the best.  Throw in some of their amazing shave butter and you're all set!
..and if you have never watched their marketing videos, they are hilarious!

Holiday Wishlist | The Lady


By the time the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving and the twins' birthday rolls around AND shopping till I drop over the Black Friday sales for my babes, I forget to think about anything I want.  Jordan has asked me over and over this year what I want and I finally put something together.. Viva la Juicy Gold // About three years ago my favorite perfume was discontinued so I was on the hunt for something just a good and one I would hope to love as much.  Jordan helped me out in finding a scent he liked as well. When I came across this one- I always envisioned 'JUICY' as a tween thing, but alas- I LOVE this perfume. A splurge, but lasts forever.
Zoku Iced Coffee Maker // Coffee lovers get your hands up!  When I was pregnant with Baker I fell in love and basically HAD TO HAVE an iced (decaf) coffee at least once a day.  Expecting this craving to cease once she had arrived was silly because I do have this desire still even almost 5 months.  A fun (and cheaper) way to fill my iced coffee void.
Kendra Scott "Taylor" Stud Earrings // I have become accustomed to being a minimalist when it comes to jewelry these days.  Earrings complete an outfit in my book- so my stud earrings have to make a statement.  These glittery Kendra Scott studs do the trick for me!
BareMinerals Marvelous Moxi Lip Gloss // FAVorite lip gloss of all time.  I got a sample pack of several of these lip gloss tubes- all in different shades - for my birthday and have scraped them dry.  You better believe I'm acting for these in my stocking this year!
William Sonoma Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate  // If you have ever had William Sonoma's hot chocolate- it is awesome!  Rich and creamy.. I actually add a little of the cocoa power to my coffee for a twist on a classes mocha- so trendy and fancy while still in my pajamas and I didn't even have to leave my house!  Pair it with this coffee mug and your coffee or hot chocolate lover will be in heaven!
SHINElife bar necklace // I got this bar necklace engraved right before Baker was born to wear in the hospital after delivery- representing my three girls.  I have each of their initials (jg + pj + bb) engraved and I wear it ALL the time- I cant remember the last time I took it off.  I chose the 14" length so that I can layer it with other jewelry and it doesn't get tangled.  It is my most favorite piece of jewelry.

Holiday Wish List | 1- 3 years

Helllllllooooo December!
Yesterday was all about buying for the littlest sister and today its time to talk about the big sister girls.  Everything in their toddler world is full speed ahead- learning more and more about everything under the sun.. even reminding me to 'be careful' as I walk out the door for work.  Developmentally, Parker and Jolie are at the age when everything is about make believe.  They serve each other hotdogs and ice cream over their imaginary food counter - don't for get the cheeses!!  
They sprinkle fairy dust over each other's heads so they can fly, they sing, they dance, they are NONSTOP.  This year Christmas/birthday gifts for Parker and Jolie will be about just that- their imagination.  Since their birthday falls just about two weeks before Christmas, their wishlist is usually a combination of the two occasions. 


Sing Along Elsa // as much as we would L O V E to let it gooooo we have yet to move on from this movie.  We were at a friend's house recently and Jolie Grace carried their Elsa doll everywhere.  I know this toy will be the death of all brain cells and I'll be singing along with Olaf in my dreams, but seeing their excitement over this baby doll would be well worth it.
Let's Go Fishin' //  The twins were recently introduced to this retro game (who else played this game??) and they had a BLAST.  They were squealing with delight every time they would capture a fish on their little plastic poles.. I thought to myself - we have got to get this game! I was pretty impressed with their abilities- mama over here couldn't get a fish on her pole to save her life!
Schwinn Roadster  // (birthday) Oh man- this is my most favorite gift on this wishlist.  We saw this at Costco (thanks, Costco..) and knew we couldn't pass it up.  A sturdy bike for a couple of first-timers to learn on.  I had a sweet friend make me a couple of stickers to personalize their bikes and make them extra special.  Ahh- i cant wait to give it to them!
Disney Doc McStuffins Doctor's Bag // Our BB has something like this at her house and it is Parker's favorite thing to do when she is visiting- play check up.  She always starts my checkups with a shot.  First things first, I suppose.
Powertool Workshop //  Not just for little boys!  Parker is IN LOVE with anything her daddy does- including his tools.  She has the Mickey Tool Belt and wears it proud whenever she is outside working in the garage with Jordan.  Jordan and I both agree that her cheeky grin will be the very best on Christmas morning when she sees what Santa has brought her.
Barbie Dream House // From power tools to Barbie dolls- you guys we have arrived.  As girly as girls can get.  I remember playing with Barbie dolls as a wee kiddo and have been secretly excited for them to finally take interest.  So- we figure.  Go big or go home with this amazing dream house. And whats a dream house without a sleek HOT PINK Barbie car?
Art Easel // We color just about once a day and have been talking about getting them an art easel forever.  With the huge easel pads it makes it easy for the twins to practice their coloring, drawing, and also to use their creative brain a bit.
Princess Dress Up // ALL DAY.  We have a couple of tutus, two or three oversized little girl nightgowns with Ana and Elsa on the front and a pair or two of plastic shoes, but this year Parker and Jolie are getting the real deal.  Again- all about the make believe.

Holiday Wish list | 0-6 months

I love holiday gift guides!! It is no secret that this is my favorite time of year- EVER.  I am not alone, that's for sure.  I have a little section in the notes of my phone that I keep up with ideas for gifts and special occasions all year long- basically like a running Christmas List.  I'll make a little note of anything that I happen to come across that I know my girls or Jordan will love so I don't forget when its time to buy- because I cant remember what I wore yesterday let alone gifts for three babies plus a picky husband. 

My girl are so fun to shop for at Christmas. This time of year is quiet magical for them.. and me!  First up is my holiday gift guide for Miss Baker Bree.  She is the easiest to shop for;)


Fisher Price Bright Beats Smart Touch Play Space //  My sweet girls isn't quiet sitting up just yet, but I know it wont be long!  We have a play table that she can stand up and play at, but I think this one would be a good middle transition for her.  I love the design of it, it is so sleek and `modern-looking`. It is hard to avoid having big, bulky, colorful toys all around the house when you have babies and toddlers- Baker's tiny self has taken over our living room already. But this toy doesn`t look obnoxious like many big baby toys do. I know she will love to sit and play with it as well and stand and play once she's to the point of pulling up.. which we wont talk about right now because this mama cant handle the thought of her getting even bigger
aden + anais bath wrap // I was browsing the Black Friday sale over the weekend and came across the Gap and Aden+Anais collab and THIS is adorable!  Hooded towels just give me the fever all over again.. and then you wrap a baby basically in a ROBE??  Dead.
Briar Handmade Bonnet //   I've been swooning over Briar Handmade since I found out I was having a little girl.  This is Baker's 'big gift'.  I'll admit it is a little on the pricey end for a bonnet- but it is beautifully made.  Wool and lined with the softest cotton, and that pom on top?  Perfection.
pajamas //  We always need more pajamas.  Christmas and festive jams are my all time favorite.  We have A LOT .. how much is TOO much??  I'll let Jordan fill you in on that.  I love this and she might have these in her stocking.  And her big sisters might have some to match:)
jellycat bunny // While we don't have a real theme to her nursery, the bunnies have sort of taken over.  We have many perched around her room and often carry one that her BB got for her when she was born.  She chews on the ears:)  The more the merrier!
Sassy Developmental Bumpy Ball + Squeeze n' Squeak Elephant //  The best stocking stuffers for Miss Baker!  Think toys with interactive elements, bright colors, sound, and different textures.  We are in the deep dark throws of teething (like for real), and these sweet little toys are not only super cute, colorful, and really great for development of her baby brain, they are soft and east to hang onto while she gnaws away to soothe her gums. 
Skip Hop Activity Bar // Finally, finally we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the car seat FREAKout.  We ended up reclining her car seat back in the base a little and she seems much more comfortable!  She also loves to have her 'friends' aka toys in her seat with her.  This Skip Hop Activity Bar is not only good for the stroller rides but the car rides, too!  She keeps herself busy and happy batting at the toys and that mirror is amazing- every time she catches a glimpse of herself she cackles out loud.  Ya'll.. her cackles are AWESOME.
Geek Tee // I just need a pair of nerd glasses for her stocking and we will be all set.  Throw on a fun patterned legging- like these or these and swag swag swag..
Bieber is currently on my streaming Pandora and I couldn't help myself.

four month favorites


play mat // finally Baker has progressed through cognitive development enough to be able to actually enjoy her play mat instead of being in sensory overload 1.5 seconds after being laid on the mat.  She will play and swat and coo at the hanging toys and the twins love to lay on the mat with her. 
sophie la girafe // We love sophie!!  She is a darling little giraffe.. loud as all get out and borderline obnoxious- but Baker absolutely adores her. Baker loves her because she can grip her with both hands, she's easy to chew, and her eyes light up any time we make sophie squeak.  I have actually noticed our sweet girl holding on tight to sophie when she's fallen asleep in her car seat (which is like never) or swing. 
medi nurser // unfortunately Miss B has already had to take medicine through a syringe.  She has terrible allergies and Dr. Butler suggested an otc allergy med as needed.  When we give it to her we would stick a finger in her mouth so she automatically started sucking and taking the medicine.  ANYway- I discovered this medi nurser not too long ago and not only are they the cutest thing you have ever seen- its genius!  No more fingers in her mouth.. well for this reason, anyway:) 
nosefrida // after many failed attempts in fighting the congestion monster when the twins were small, we finally caved one night at 2am and bought the frida off Amazon.  With Baker's allergies getting the best of all of us we have used it often this month.  Just trust me.  Get past the heebegeebees.  Buy the frida.  Thank me later.
old navy sleepers // once again these sleepers have made the favorites list.  They fit the best of any other brand we have worn- and the pattern and colors are my favorite!
cozy socks // with the cooler weather we gotta keep her head and her toes covered!  
bumbo // around 12 weeks we put Baker in the bumbo for the first time and she LOVED it!  She has really great core and head control, so it was a great way to keep her busy!  Its basically the best seat in the house!  I do leave the bumbo sitting for after its been awhile since she's eaten because the extra pressure on her belly when she's sitting upright.  
infantino crinkle blocks // basically everything goes into Baker's mouth right now.  Homegirl cant help it.  These blocks were a gift from her BB and we have loved them so much!  Basically any sensory toy is among our favorites right now.  Sweet girl is so intrigued by the crinkle noise and the textured fabrics.  
just born sleep sac // l o v e these sleep sacs!  I was introduced to them before Baker was born, and having used and loved a different brand, I was surprised to fall in love with these- they are awesome!  They are thick enough to hold in warmth, but not too much to over heat thanks to the mesh vents on each side.  I love these in particular because they have a velcro wrap inside that goes around your baby's chest and holds the sack in place while they sleep.      
june + january tights // these knit tights!  I wish they were in my size.  I want all 7 colors! J+J is now offering 20% off your purchase of all 7 colors, so of course they are reading all of our minds when we are torn between which one to choose.  They are easy to layer underneath bloomers, dresses, onesies- you name it.  And the colors are just perfection.  We wear ours o f t e n.

mama + mini style | chambray + buffalo

There is so much to look forward to this time of year and among the festive fall activities, Salted Caramel Mochas (my weakness!), and picking out the perfect pumpkins there are the outfits and wardrobe changes that take place, too!  I am a huge fan of comfy tunics and riding boots.. not to mention the blanket scarf.  I have a real problem with collecting every print + pattern, and theres always next year to get more.  While it is cool in the mornings here in Texas right now, by lunch time we are shedding the layers.  But a Southern Girl can hope and pray for the cooler weather to stick around here soon.

For the last several years Jordan and I have taken 'family pictures' when the cool weather months hit, and these pictures serve their purpose for documenting our lives every year, but also for our Christmas Card.  Now that we have babes to share the frame with, the pictures have become even more fun to plan.  
Baby clothes are freaking awesome.  
Who cares what I am wearing.. What are they going to wear.
We have never done a very Christmas-y theme for our photos and this year I wanted that to change.
