Good Turkey Times

Thanksgiving 2010 was ever so wonderful.  We have so much to be thankful for this year- number one on my list?  Survival through internship and successfully becoming a Registered Dietitian.  Jordan, on more than one occassion, has randomly mentioned how wonderful it is for me to be through- being able to just sit and relax after dinner rather than hurry up, eat, and off to my hole for more studying/case studies/rotation prep.  And the weekends were a whole different story!  Not to mention my house has been exceptionally clean since July :)

These Massey's traveled to the Huey's Wednesday night for Thanksgiving Day in Austin.  It was quite lazy, and I truthfully questioned even getting out of my PJs at all.. but I figured we would be taking pictures and thought it appropriate to put on something halfway decent.
Jordan taking pride is whooping Sam's tail in the neverending game of Speed.  The occasional 'booo-yaaa' and 'Pshhhh- Woo-hoo!' became just background noise. Poor Sam.  The 28 year old takes pride crushing the 13 year old in card games.
My mom and me taking a break from the day of cooking- We had a great time cooking together, and dreaming up things on our Christmas list.
Patrick and Kat came along with her little brother for some grub.
This would be my 13 year old brother. Always looking for that ray of attention- Could he be just like his big sister?  NAHHHH....
My un-official 'roomie'
Jordan..attempting to force me to take a picture on my 'bad' side.  I showed him.
Jordan pretending to grab.. well, you know. The pretending continued because my Mom couldn't stop laughing at him.  That is just what he needs someone to egg the fireman on.
Something decent- no face-licking, chest grabbing, or goofy smiling- just normal.  See how nice?  This was attempt #4.
My Dad and me after our post-turkey naps.
My HUGE Roomie.  He is large.  Stop growing, dude.
Friday morning Jordan and I packed up and headed about an hour north of Austin to Lake Belton for the Fort (Jordan's Mom's side) Thanksgiving.
Jenna Bree..trying to steal my lipgloss.  Make note of the firearms hanging on the wall in the back..draped with the multi-colored gun-shell Christmas lights.  The authentic cow-hide stockings went up later in the evening..
Love this one.  Seriously.
Roy eating cake.. His daughter's decided to catch him for a picture
When we finally couldn't stand it anymore with all the yummy smells and built up anticipation of waiting on that darndest bird to come out of the oven- we went out to the Bluff for some fun with the cam.
Never fails.. always someone gets a boob grab.  Usually I'm the victim, but this time I grabbed Jenna's- total accident- but made for a great laugh.
Silly girls turned serious for a pretty picture :)
Look at Jordan's face?  Why must he look at ME this way when he give me such grief when the camera is pointed to shoot?  Please, son.
Love this sweet man, anyway.
Weird siblings.
There we go- what handsome Massey's
AND finally- we didn't get out of this one without our infamous sexy face pose.  We toooo too sexy.
After all this fun with the camera, it was finally time to get our grub on.  Woogie (Jordan's grandfather) was about to set his mounded plate of food on the table when the side hit the tip of the chair and fell face down (perfectly, I might add) onto to table.  Jordan then proceeds to tell him- "Who needs a plate, Woog? Just eat it off the table!"  He listened.  A laughing (crying, rather) Jordan took this picture, hence the blurriness.  Granny caught us tell him to just eat up, and she fussed and scooped the food onto the plate with a spatula.  True story.
I was going to post this on Sunday night, after all the Christmas decor was up and ready for picture-taking in our house, but that didn't happen..and neither did the Christmas decor.  I was a pain in my husband's behind for almost three weeks, asking and asking again for him to pull down to decorations from the attic.  After weasling out on multiple occasions, he finally decided to give in.  I told him a month ago we needed to plan a time to pick out a new tree- we tossed ours last year. 'No we didn't.  I remember putting it up there a couple months ago.' (Yes- 8 months to put the decor away in the attic.)
Me: Jordan, we have no tree, I'm telling you.  Jordan: Yes, we do.  Then yesterday, he met me at the door after I had returned from my errands; 'We have no tree.' So, after running around to 5 stores and fighting the masses, we have a tree- not the tree of my dreams, but its a tree that will do this year.  A tree still in the box, staring at me from the corner of my living room.

You will have your day Christmas Tree.. just not today :)

Happy Monday!

I love waking up to my Groupon emails every morning! I have mentioned my love for Groupon in the past, but this morning really clarified.  Back track a bit.. Saturday I got an email promoting the release of Groupons that will be available for 3 days over the next month or so, in lue of the holiday season (Normally, Groupons are only available for 24 hours.)
This morning, the Groupon was a $50 certificate for $25 to Nordstrom Rack..and it is available for 3 days- THREE!  Woo-Hoo!  Wanna grab this deal?  Click Here :) :) :)

What a way to start the week, eh?  Happy Monday!!

Holiday Pictures 2010

It's that time of year again (the BEST time!!!)  Traditionally, Jordan and I take our annual Christmas Card Pictures the weekend before Thanksgiving.  This year Jennifer is about to pop! With baby Eli ready to come any day now it wouldn't have been smart to plan on our normal date and then her not be able to take them. At first I was seeking out other photographers, but decided in the end, with Jenny's willingness, we (Jordan and myself) were more comfortable with her talent.  After all- she has been taking them every year since we have been married!  We opted for a short and sweet session on Halloween :)  Hope you enjoy some of my (our) favorites!

One of my absolute favorites..

What I didn't share was the one(s) going on our Christmas card, which I finalized and ordered today!!  The fabulous Andrea of Slightly Askew Designs did an incredible job of capturing Jordan and I through the pictures I sent her.  Really excited to get them in person!

5 weeks from Saturday :)

A Natural Hunter

Is that time that my husband dreams about the other 10 months of the year..bird season.  Yesterday he and his Dad loaded up the dogs and headed north to Kansas to prey on the local pheasant population.  Daphnee is the newest addition to their 'pack' of dogs.  She has hunted quail with Jordan locally, but never with the 'Big Dogs' (no pun intended!).  Jordan sent me this picture earlier today after she had her first kill...

Doesn't she look like she means business?  "Yea..I killed this bird..what's it to you?!"

I've said it before- She's a natural :)

Cow Poke Baby Love

This weekend was the anticipated baby shower for Josh, sweet Jennifer and her baby belly- the future Eli Kent.  Melanie, with the help of Brooke and myself threw her a precious Cowboy themed party, complete with daisies and boots. :)

Jenny with her 'Any-Day-Now' belly, myself, Brooke (due in Feb) and Mel
The rather delicous looking (and tasting!) spread of food.

Brooke graced us with delicous BBQ pork sliders- Me: 'Brooke, tell me about this recipe!'  Brookie: 'Weeellllll...you can get it off of http://www.chocolatebroc.com..'/  Shut. Up.  ;)  Love me some CBroc!
Rather than a shower cake, we opted for mini fruit pies.  SO precious.
Apple..Peach..Cherry..Lemon.. BIG hit with the guests.
Lemonade, IBC Root Beer, and Mason Jars.  Need I say more?
Baby Eli with never have enough clothes, apparently.  You think that maybe when I'm registering for my baby, I could throw a couple outfits in for myself?  That may be a stretch...
 More gift opening..
My seeester.  Very beautiful in her peeeettty dress :)
 Look at all those gifts!
And another pic of Jenna and Me, just for fun.

A Bonue Side Note: Just for fun I'll share... On Friday, Jordan and I went to dinner with Ashley and Jarrett to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse.  I don't rememeber that last time we had done a hibache style dinner, but I'm positive I've been to one.. sometime or another.

Filet, Shrimp and Scallop dinner- bring on the veggies!!!
That would be my scruffy hubby.  He has been off for several weeks (really only 4 or 5 shifts) and when he is off, he decides to grow out his beard..
The newest Bride in my life..her and Jarrett will be getting married in April!!  It will be here before you know it!!  (hmmm..reminds me that I need to get my dress..and my shoes..)
 The future DWays.

Super busy weekend, that is for sure.  Jordan is gone this week (again) for bird hunting in Kansas.  He has been working and out of town the past two weeeeekkkks!  Now, another week of his absence.  Boo... absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Hmmm..not sure this heart can get much fonder :)

On a happier note- ordering my Christmas Cards tomorrow!!! Pumped! We had our pictures done with Jenny a couple weeks back (had to get it in before baby Eli decided to present himself!) The pictures and cards turned out really cute, and I'm excited to send them out.

Less than two weeks until Thanksgiving-Wooo!
